Jason Heyward Unlikely To Make Fantasy Impact In 2018
7 years agoUnless you are in a league where defensive stats count, you can avoid drafting Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward. Heyward is entering his third-season of an eight-year $184 million contract but has yet to produce offensively. In his first two seasons with the Cubs, the outfielder has hit a disappointing .243 with 18 home runs and 108 RBI. Although he did improve his batting from .230 to .259 in his second season, he doesn't provide the numbers needed to make a strong fantasy impact. Due to the fact that he will start and is in a strong lineup, he is someone worth watching, but for now, he should be avoided in most leagues besides for a bench a spot in deeper NL-only and deeper mixed leagues. You can likely do better than rostering Heyward to open the season.
