Austin Hooper 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Low Floor With Mayer In The Picture
2 years agoLas Vegas Raiders tight end Austin Hooper caught 41 passes for 444 yards and two touchdowns last season with the Tennessee Titans. Given the poor situation in one of the league's worst offenses, it wasn't a bad showing. However, he drew just a one-year $2.75 million deal with the Raiders, so he's not guaranteed to be a big factor in the Jimmy Garoppolo-led offense -- especially after Notre Dame's Michael Mayer was selected by the Silver and Black in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Mayer could take time to develop -- as tight ends often do -- but he should be expected to take over the primary tight end receiving role at some point in his rookie campaign. All that said, Hooper will likely be a deep league consideration only and he might fall off the fantasy radar as the season moves along.
