Adam Shaheen 2019 Outlook: Career At A Crossroads
5 years agoChicago Bears tight end Adam Shaheen will enter his third season carrying as much mystery tied to his potential as there was when he was drafted in the second round by the Bears in 2017. Two seasons in and the athletic tight end has only 17 receptions for 175 yards and four touchdowns in 19 career games. It was a tough sophomore campaign for the 6'6' product out of Ashland, as he battled countless injuries and caught multiple passes in only two games. When on the field Shaheen has shown an ability to present a mismatch in the red zone, an athletic talent with soft hands. But he also has struggled with his route running and once the ball is in his hands has shown a tendency to be an easy tackle in the open field. For a player Shaheen's size, this simply won't cut it. The Bears, under head coach Matt Nagy, have shown to display a creative offensive unit that puts player in different positions to succeed. But a lot will have to break right for Shaheen to even crack the regular rotation on offense. Expect Shaheen to head straight to waivers to begin the season and will need several, heavily-targeted performances to even become a blip on the fantasy radar.
