Week 16 in the NFL brought fireworks. The potential game of the year between the Seahawks and the Rams led off the slate, and the games never turned back. The NFC playoff picture was shaken up with the Seahawks jumping into the No. 1 seed, and the AFC playoff race tightened up. This is shaping up to be an exciting end to the regular season.
In other news, the Eagles locked up the NFC East title for the first repeat champion in the last 21 seasons. The win gave the Eagles their third divisional title in the last four seasons and provided the team with momentum as they continue their stranglehold over the rest of the division. However, the NFC East is the only division in the league that is settled. Every other division is going to come down to the wire.
This season is the season of ultimate parity in the NFL. We are guaranteed to have a new AFC representative in the Super Bowl, and anything could happen in the NFC. With so much happening, it is time to jump into the latest power rankings. Let's see where every team stands as we head into Week 17.

No. 32: New York Jets
Another week, another loss for the Jets. The Saints absolutely dismantled the Jets in a brutal loss for Gang Green. With two games left in the season, this team cannot wait to get to the offseason and attempt to find some answers.
No. 31: Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders lost again in Week 16. However, they got great play from running back Ashton Jeanty, which is encouraging for the future. Still, this franchise is a bit directionless as we head into the final couple of weeks of the season.
No. 30: Cleveland Browns
The Browns nearly completed an upset of the Bills in Week 16. They were unable to get over the hump, but this defense continues to prove that if the offense can catch up, Cleveland could compete in this league. However, that is a big "if."
No. 29: New York Giants
The Giants lost to the Vikings in a hard-fought game in Week 16. The Vikings' defense completely stymied the Giants' offense, as Jaxson Dart and company were only able to muster up 13 points. The Giants have a long way to go to compete, but they have the draft capital to complete a quick rebuild this offseason.
No. 28: Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals were unable to secure a victory in Week 16 against the Falcons. At this point, this team is playing for its draft position. It is a travesty how poorly this season has gone for a team that had so much promise.
No. 27: Tennessee Titans
The Titans beat the reeling Chiefs in Week 16. Even though the Chiefs were down to their No. 3 quarterback in this game, the Titans' offense was the real star of the show. Cameron Ward continues to display why he was the No. 1 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
No. 26: Washington Commanders
The Commanders made a game of their matchup with the Eagles in Week 16 in the first half. Unfortunately, an injury to quarterback Marcus Mariota took the wind out of this team's sails. They would go on to be dominated in the second half and continue improving their draft position.
No. 25: Miami Dolphins
In the first game with Tua Tagovailoa relegated to the bench, the Dolphins were completely blown out by the Bengals. Tagovailoa's replacement, Quinn Ewers, began the game solidly. However, everything fell apart in the second half, and the Bengals cruised to victory.
No. 24: Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are coming alive at the wrong time. They have strung together two victories in a row, but it is too little too late for this team. Still, at least they can enter the offseason with some momentum to build on.
No. 23: Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals won in dominating fashion over Miami in Week 16. Quarterback Joe Burrow could not stop throwing touchdown passes, and running back Chase Brown could not stop scoring them. This is a huge win for a team that was in desperate need of a morale boost.

No. 22: New Orleans Saints
The Saints continue to get better with each passing week. Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough looks like the quarterback of the future for this team. Watch out for New Orleans, as they could turn things around very quickly.

No. 21: Kansas City Chiefs
As if things could not get worse for the Chiefs, they lost quarterback Gardner Minshew to a knee injury. The Chiefs are now down to their third quarterback, with a defense that looks uninterested in performing at a high level. It is time for Kansas City to fully look towards its future.
No. 20: Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings did well to secure another victory. Unfortunately, quarterback J.J. McCarthy sustained yet another injury. McCarthy was having a solid game prior to the injury, but his career is riding on his ability to stay healthy and continue to demonstrate that he is the quarterback of the future.
No. 19: Indianapolis Colts
The Colts' skid continued in Week 16. The offense showed up with Philip Rivers under center, but the defense was nowhere to be found. Indianapolis is now in dire straits for playoff contention.
No. 18: Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday, and they were unable to secure a win for pride's sake on Sunday. The Chargers ran all over Dallas in this game. The Cowboys have a path to a great season in 2026, but they will need to nail several offseason moves.
No. 17: Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens' playoff chances took a massive hit with a loss to the Patriots on Sunday night. Baltimore watched as the Steelers won earlier in the day as well. The likelihood of the Ravens making the playoffs is now slim. To make matters worse, quarterback Lamar Jackson is battling a back injury.
No. 16: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers lost their hold on the NFC South with a loss to the Panthers in Week 16. Tampa Bay now has some work to do in order to position itself as a divisional competitor. Look for the Buccaneers to play with serious fire over the next couple of weeks.
No. 15: Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are now in control of the NFC South. They will finish their season with a game against the Seahawks and a season finale rematch with the Buccaneers. The path to the divisional title is not going to be easy, but Carolina has done well to assert itself as a legitimate playoff contender this season.

No. 14: Detroit Lions
The Lions have made their road to the playoffs quite difficult with another loss in Week 16. Detroit will need a lot of help to get into the big dance. With the NFC North so strong now, the Lions' future is murky.
No. 13: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers won a massive game against the Lions in Week 16. Pittsburgh has now positioned itself to win the AFC North. Their destiny is in their own hands. The Steelers are peaking at the right time, which is important as the playoffs loom.
No. 12: Green Bay Packers
The Packers find themselves in a bit of a skid after two straight losses. Their loss to the Bears in Week 16 essentially removed Green Bay from the running for the NFC North title. The loss of Micah Parsons seems to be profoundly impacting this team.
No. 11: Houston Texans
C.J. Stroud and company were unable to dominate the Raiders as expected in Week 16. However, a win is a win, and Houston finds itself in a great playoff position with a chance to win the division. This is a dangerous team, with a legitimate chance to play in February.
No. 10: Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are right back in the driver's seat after finding some consistent offensive success and clinching the NFC East. Philadelphia is finding itself at the right time. This team is looking like one that may be scary to match up with in the playoffs.
No. 9: Chicago Bears
The Bears are in the driver's seat for the NFC North title. They need to win just one of their two final games to clinch the division. Although they continue to win in nail-biting fashion, it is time to put this team on notice. If they are in a close game in the fourth quarter, they have as good a chance as anyone to win.
No. 8: San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco's offense was unstoppable on Monday night. Quarterback Brock Purdy was dealing all game long. The defense also showed up in big moments to secure a victory. The 49ers are quite dangerous if they continue to play complete games like that.

No. 7: Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers kept up with the Broncos in the race for the AFC West in Week 16. This looks like it will be an exciting photo finish between Denver and Los Angeles. Buckle up.
No. 6: Buffalo Bills
The Bills earned an ugly victory against the Browns in Week 16. The Browns' defense buckled down and stymied the Bills' offense in the second half. Most importantly, the Bills survived an injury scare to quarterback Josh Allen in the first half.
No. 5: Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars continue to look like a legitimate contender following a dominant win over the Broncos in Week 16. Jacksonville has put itself in a fantastic position in the AFC. Head coach Liam Coen has done wonders for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Watch out for the Jaguars in the playoffs.
No. 4: Denver Broncos
The Broncos dropped a massive game to the Jaguars in Week 16. This team still has a lot to prove this season after breezing through an easy schedule. Denver now has its work cut out for it to win the AFC West and the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
No. 3: New England Patriots
The Patriots suffered a significant loss to the Bills in Week 15. After dominating the first half, New England fell apart in the second half. This was a monumental loss because it means that the division could slip away from the Patriots if they are not careful. But they bounced back in Week 16 with a win over the Ravens.
No. 2: Los Angeles Rams
The Rams are one of the best teams in the league, but they continue to drop games that cost them greatly. They are no longer in control of the No. 1 seed in the NFC or the NFC West after losing to the Seahawks in Week 16. Los Angeles may be on the road in the playoffs.
No. 1: Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks won the game of the year in Week 16. The back-and-forth matchup with the Rams was as exciting as any Seahawks game in recent memory. Seattle now controls its own destiny for the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
