NFL quarterback play was solid in Week 9. We were treated to a fun shootout between Joe Flacco and Caleb Williams, Matthew Stafford put on a masterclass against the Saints, and Josh Allen was masterful in another regular season win over the Chiefs. Great quarterback play makes it fun to be an NFL fan.

As we enter a critical portion of the NFL season, we should only continue to watch good quarterback play. Quarterbacks are playing for playoff positions, contracts, and starting opportunities at this point. Every snap matters, and that is often reflected on the field.

With the quarterback play continuing to treat NFL fans, it is time to take a look at where everyone stands. There is a little bit of movement this week with standout performances from players such as Sam Darnold, resulting in increased rankings. Let's dive in.

No. 32: Cameron Ward - Tennessee Titans

Cameron Ward put together a respectable performance against the Chargers in Week 9. In fact, Ward was almost able to lead the Titans to a victory. Be patient with this kid; he has the tools to succeed.

No. 31: Tyler Shough - New Orleans Saints

Tyler Shough played solid football in his first career start. The Saints had a historically bad time of possession in this game, limiting Shough's opportunities. Most importantly, Shough did not play historically badly, and his performance was encouraging.

No. 30: Dillon Gabriel - Cleveland Browns

Dillon Gabriel is still the man in Cleveland following their bye week. However, the Browns may face pressure soon to replace Gabriel with fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders if the team does not start winning ball games. This is a situation to watch.

No. 29: Justin Fields - New York Jets

Justin Fields was able to keep his job with a massive showing in Week 8. Now, with a bye week under his belt, Fields has the second half of the season to display what he is made of. However, he was a Tyrod Taylor injury away from getting benched, so the leash is short.

No. 28: Geno Smith - Las Vegas Raiders

Geno Smith came out of the bye with a vintage performance against the Jaguars. His accuracy was substantially better this week, and he connected with tight end Brock Bowers over and over. The Raiders need that type of play from Smith consistently.

No. 27: Michael Penix Jr. - Atlanta Falcons

Michael Penix Jr. was back in the lineup in Week 9 against the Patriots. The offense fared better under Penix than it did with Kirk Cousins. However, the Falcons still dropped another loss. The season is slipping away for Atlanta.

No. 26: Jaxson Dart - New York Giants

Jaxson Dart led the Giants right down the field for a touchdown to open Week 9. However, the Giants' success was short-lived as the 49ers took over the game. Still, Dart continues to display toughness and grit as the leader of this offense.

No. 25: Tua Tagovailoa - Miami Dolphins

Tua Tagovailoa was unable to get much going in Week 9 against a Ravens defense that has been absolutely gashed all season. Now, Tagovailoa could reportedly be benched this season if his play continues to taper off. Times are dark in Miami.

No. 24: Marcus Mariota - Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels' season appears to be over, and it will be the Marcus Mariota show in Washington indefinitely. Mariota has performed admirably in place of Daniels. He should continue to do so, although the injuries to Washington's offense will make things difficult.

No. 23: J.J. McCarthy - Minnesota Vikings

J.J. McCarthy put together a solid game against the Lions in Week 9. He accounted for three touchdowns and led Minnesota to a huge win. He was able to take advantage of several short fields. McCarthy is growing right before our eyes.

No. 22: Jacoby Brissett - Arizona Cardinals

Jacoby Brissett will officially be under center for the Cardinals for the next four weeks with Kyler Murray headed to IR. Something is fishy in Arizona. They will not say it, but it would appear that Murray has essentially been benched in favor of Brissett. Frankly, it may be the right move based on how Murray has played.

No. 21: Joe Flacco - Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Flacco could not have performed better in Week 9. He threw for 470 yards and led the Bengals to 42 points scored against the Bears. Still, Cincinnati continues to lose despite Flacco's best efforts.

No. 20: C.J. Stroud - Houston Texans

C.J. Stroud will not play this week due to a concussion, but we will leave him in the power rankings for now due to the temporary nature of the injury. Stroud had been slowly climbing the ranks, but this setback will send him down a spot or two.

No. 19: Bryce Young - Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young barely cracked 100 yards passing in Week 9, but the Panthers still grabbed a win over the Packers. Young is becoming a solid game manager, and the Panthers find themselves in playoff contention halfway through the season for the first time in a long time.

No. 18: Trevor Lawrence - Jacksonville Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence fought through an illness to lead the Jaguars to victory over the Raiders this past week. Now, Lawrence will be without wide receiver Travis Hunter for a while. With wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. banged up as well, the receiving corps in Jacksonville is thin. At least former Raider Jakobi Meyers should help stabilize the wide receiver room.

No. 17: Caleb Williams - Chicago Bears

Caleb Williams put together one of the best games of his career in Week 9, complete with one of the best throws of his career to Colston Loveland for the game-winning touchdown. Williams' inconsistencies are still present, but for at least this week, Williams was a revelation.

No. 16: Mac Jones - San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers continue to tease Brock Purdy's return to the lineup, but it has not come to fruition. At this point, it would not be surprising to see Mac Jones start the next few games. Jones has performed well enough to keep the 49ers right in the thick of the divisional race. As such, there is no need to rush Purdy back.

No. 15: Aaron Rodgers - Pittsburgh Steelers

Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers stifled the Colts in Week 9. It was a great showing for a team that was starting to lose confidence from NFL fans. Rodgers continues to play well within the structure of the Steelers' organization. If Pittsburgh's defense can figure things out, Rodgers can lead this team on a real run.

No. 14: Jordan Love - Green Bay Packers

Jordan Love has been very streaky this season. He seems to be making predetermined decisions at the line before the ball is snapped. That is not a recipe for success for any quarterback. Love needs to find his consistency because the Packers have a golden opportunity to make a run.

No. 13: Justin Herbert - Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert looks to be back in fine form after a falter for a few weeks. However, losing offensive tackle Joe Alt for the season is a huge blow to Herbert and this offense. It will be difficult to recover from that in 2025.

No. 12: Bo Nix - Denver Broncos

Bo Nix has become the ultimate fourth-quarter quarterback. For the last few weeks, Nix has not seemed to turn on the gas until the game nears its end. Still, he is getting the job done as both a runner and a passer for the Broncos. He is putting together a fine sophomore season.

No. 11: Dak Prescott - Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys' offense was stumped by a solid Cardinals defense in Week 9. This crew had been red hot, but they fell flat on their face this week. They should bounce back after their Week 10 bye.

No. 10: Daniel Jones - Indianapolis Colts

Daniel Jones and the Colts could not get much going on offense this week. Jones could not stop turning the ball over. He looked a lot more like his New York self when the Colts had to press against a quality opponent in the Steelers. The jury is still out on how good Jones really is.

No. 9: Drake Maye - New England Patriots

Drake Maye is a stud. Period. Maye did not play his best in Week 9, but he stood in the pocket and took plenty of lumps from the defense. This kid has what it takes to take the Patriots on a true run in 2025. Buckle up for this ride.

No. 8: Jalen Hurts - Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts found his 2024 success in the Eagles' two games leading into their bye week. With so much success flowing in Philly, look for Hurts to continue to ratchet up the temperature moving forward. It takes time to get used to a new offensive coordinator, and everything is finally coming together for Hurts and the Eagles' offense.

No. 7: Baker Mayfield - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield struggled his way into the Buccaneers' Week 9 bye after opening the season as an MVP candidate. The injuries to Mayfield's weapons finally caught up with him. Hopefully, Tampa Bay will be healthy coming out of the bye, and we can watch Mayfield have great success once again.

No. 6: Sam Darnold - Seattle Seahawks

Sam Darnold was masterful in Week 9. He completed 17 straight passes to open the game against the Commanders, and he tossed four touchdown passes. Darnold has placed himself in the conversation for the MVP award.

No. 5: Jared Goff - Detroit Lions

Jared Goff was under duress for much of Week 9 against the Vikings. Goff struggled to get much going; however, he still almost led a comeback drive. Goff and the Lions will bounce back, but it was a tough loss to swallow against a divisional opponent.

No. 4: Matthew Stafford - Los Angeles Rams

Matthew Stafford put together a vintage performance in Week 9. The Rams did whatever they wanted to against the Saints, and Stafford threw four touchdown passes. This guy can still sling it with the best of them.

No. 3: Patrick Mahomes - Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes has fallen out of the No. 1 spot after playing arguably the worst game of his career in Week 9. He recorded the worst completion percentage of his career against the Bills. Mahomes will bounce back. He always seems to play poorly against the Bills in the regular season.

No. 2: Lamar Jackson - Baltimore Ravens

And with that performance, Lamar Jackson has vaulted himself right back to the top of the power rankings. Jackson did not skip a beat in Week 9, tossing four touchdown passes in a massive win over Miami.

No. 1: Josh Allen - Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen put together one of the best games of his career against the Chiefs this past weekend. Allen could not miss, and he was a magician with his legs. He has fully re-earned the No. 1 spot on this list.
