Richard Fitts 2024 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Looking To Continue Growth With New Team
11 months agoRichard Fitts was traded to the Boston Red Sox in the package that sent Alex Verdugo to the New York Yankees earlier in the offseason. Fitts, an Auburn product, started a hefty 27 games in 2023, all in Double-A. He posted a 3.48 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and tallied 43 BB and 163 punchouts across 152 2/3 innings. The former sixth-round selection dropped his ERA from a previously set 3.70 ERA in 2022, where he tallied only 112 innings, showing progress over a larger sample size. Fitts did not have trouble against more challenging competition in 2023, which could allow him to open this season in Triple-A. The Red Sox have few established starting pitchers outside Lucas Giolito, Brayan Bello, and Nick Pivetta, which could allow Fitts to receive a promotion to the majors this season if he continues to succeed in the minors.
