Nakobe Dean 2022 NFL Player Outlook: An IDP Lottery Ticket
2 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean is the definition of an IDP lottery ticket. There are legitimate reasons for fantasy managers to fade or ignore Dean in drafts, with concerns surrounding his diminutive size, lack of speed, and a pectoral injury that caused him to fall to the third round of the NFL Draft. However, we aren't as worried as most seem about the Butkus Award winner. When you watch Dean's college film, he is the most instinctive and active player on a Georgia defense that was historically loaded with NFL talent. He reminds us of the Dolphins' great Zach Thomas, another undersized tackle machine that fell in his draft due to size/athleticism concerns. While many will wonder what Dean's role will be in a Philly LB corps that was seemingly deep in 2020, it's worth remembering Eagles linebackers were better in fantasy than they were in real life. There should be a spot on this defense for the former Bulldog to see snaps early, provided he's healthy. If that happens, the mini-monster could be one of the biggest steals in IDP this year.
