Bryan Edwards 2021 Outlook: Writing a New Chapter for 2021
4 years agoOne year ago, following his selection as a third-round pick of the Raiders, I penned a preview of Bryan Edwards' fantasy outlook that was bullish, but apprehensive about Edwards recovering foot injury. Fast forward to 2021, and Edwards was able to play in 75% of his team's games, but was buried on the depth chart and ended the year with only 11 catches. The Raiders let Nelson Agholor and his 82 targets walk in free agency following his breakout season, which should open up more opportunities for Edwards. Despite this, managers should tread carefully around Edwards in 2021. He'll be competing with John Brown, Henry Ruggs, Willie Snead, and Zay Jones on the outside for opportunities, with Hunter Renfrow in the slot and Darren Waller firmly entrenched as the alpha. Coach Jon Gruden will be looking for more out of his quarterback, Derek Carr, and if Carr can answer the call, then it is not out of the question to see Edwards as the second-most fantasy-relevant receiver on the team behind Waller. With so much competition and an uninspiring 2020 season, Edwards is a decent draft-and-stash candidate in the hopes of an early breakout paying off for a late draft pick.
