Austin Ekeler Suffers Torn Achilles
Austin Ekeler suffered a torn Achilles during Thursday night's loss to the Green Bay Packers. Ekeler injured his ankle on the game's final drive while stepping back awkwardly. The lead back for Washington through the first two weeks, Ekeler totaled 14 carries for 43 yards and added five receptions for 38 yards. With 2024 starter Brian Robinson Jr. already traded, rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt will now step into the starting role. Ekeler's contract expires after this season, making the injury an even bigger blow for the former star running back.

Kyle Pitts Sr. a Volatile Low-End TE1 in Week 2
Kyle Pitts Sr. had a nice start to the season in Week 1, drawing eight looks from quarterback Michael Penix Jr., which was second-most on the team, and he recorded seven catches for 59 yards. While it was encouraging to see the rapport with his young QB after drawing a total of 10 targets in three games with him under center in 2024, the fact that Darnell Mooney (shoulder) was not a participant in Week 1 almost certainly boosted Pitts' target share. Mooney is expected to return to the field for Sunday night's road matchup with the Vikings, which could send the 24-year-old tight end back to the No. 3 or No. 4 option in the passing attack behind Drake London (shoulder), Mooney, and perhaps even behind running back Bijan Robinson. Drawing the second-most red zone looks on the team in 2024 buoys his fantasy value somewhat, but the 6-foot-6 TE needs to produce on a regular basis before he's not categorized as a risky low-end TE1, which is what he will be this week.

Travis Etienne Jr. an RB2 in Solid Week 2 Matchup
Travis Etienne Jr. and the team take on the Cincinnati Bengals, whose strength is offense and weakness is defense. That bodes well for the Jacksonville fantasy assets, especially with Etienne Jr.'s resurgent performance in Week 1 against the Panthers. The Panthers have one of the worst run defenses in the NFL going back to last season, but a 16 carry, 143 yard performance is still impressive. Add on the team trading away Tank Bigsby to the Jaguars, and the veteran back should get plenty of work once again. The game script should be less in favor of the running game this week, but that shouldn't stop Etienne Jr. from being a solid RB2 this week.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Matthew Stafford Could Underwhelm in Week 2
Matthew Stafford is not a top fantasy option for Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Instead, he ranks as a low-end QB2. First of all, the Titans' passing defense showed major strides in Week 1, intercepting Bo Nix twice. This was the lone bright spot for a Tennessee team that struggled essentially everywhere else. Additionally, the Rams are favored to win, so they could adopt a run-heavy approach that aims to drain the clock. If so, we'll see fewer attempts from Stafford through the air. With a respectable matchup and potentially positive game script, Stafford, who lacks rushing upside, drops to the fringe top-24 range.

Jets D/ST Gets Unfavorable Week 2 Draw
Aaron Rodgers erupted for a four-touchdown performance as the Steelers edged out a 34-32 win. Things won't be any easier this Sunday when Josh Allen and the explosive Bills' offense take the field. New York did well to quiet Pittsburgh's rushing attack last weekend, but they didn't have to deal with a mobile quarterback. The Jets can succeed if they force Buffalo to be one-dimensional. However, they'll take a hit this week with the unfavorable matchup, coupled with their poor showing in the previous contest. The unit comes in as RotoBaller's DST31 ahead of Week 2.

Zach Charbonnet Named Team Captain For Week 2
Zach Charbonnet a team captain for Week 2's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The third-year back handled 12 carries for 47 yards and a touchdown in Seattle's 17-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Charbonnet was one of the biggest fantasy talking points from Week 1 after out-snapping and outproducing Kenneth Walker III, fueling speculation about a changing of the guard in the Seahawks' backfield. Reports before the opener suggested Charbonnet would be "more involved" this season, and his captain designation could be another sign of his growing role.

Joshua Karty Not a Flashy Option Against Tennessee
Joshua Karty is not a top fantasy option for Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. Karty has been tough to trust on a week-by-week basis in his young career, leaving fantasy managers looking elsewhere for a high-ceiling option at the kicker position. Karty only attempted two kicks -- both successful extra points -- in the season opener, leaving him with a high success rate but low points total. He does carry more upside into Week 2 against a struggling Titans team, but he's merely a fringe top-15 fantasy option. He's startable in leagues with at least 14 teams but can probably be avoided in smaller formats.

Rams Defense Could Feast Against Rookie QB in Week 2
Cameron Ward went 12-for-28 passing with six sacks. The Rams' defense had a solid showing of its own in the season opener, holding the Houston Texans to just nine points. We could be in for a very lopsided game this weekend as the Rams' high-end defense takes on the Titans' low-end offense. Los Angeles' D/ST should be started in all fantasy leagues on Sunday.

Eagles Shut Down Trade Talks For A.J. Brown
A.J. Brown reportedly drew interest from multiple teams this offseason, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, but general manager Howie Roseman shut down all trade inquiries. Brown is coming off his least productive season since 2021, missing time with a hamstring injury while the Eagles leaned on a more run-heavy attack. He opened 2025 slowly as well, managing just one catch in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys, though Philadelphia still pulled out the win. Despite the sluggish start, there's no expectation of a trade, and Brown should be viewed as a high-end WR2 heading into the Eagles' Super Bowl rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Isaiah Davis a Distant Third in Jets' Ground Attack
Isaiah Davis won't be on the fantasy radar this weekend when his team takes on the visiting Buffalo Bills. As expected, Davis operated as New York's third option in their ground attack in Week 1. However, the touch split was more drastic than initially anticipated. Incumbent starter Breece Hall carried the ball 19 times, while quarterback Justin Fields attempted 12 rushes of his own. Davis and Braelon Allen combined for just eight touches, with the latter ceding four to his second-year counterpart. If either Allen or Hall were to miss time, Davis should step in as the de facto change-of-pace option, particularly with Kene Nwangwu (hamstring) dealing with an injury. For now, though, his role is too limited to be viable for fantasy. The 23-year-old is RotoBaller's PPR RB70 ahead of this weekend.

Trevor Lawrence Upgraded Against Weak Bengals Defense
Trevor Lawrence succeeding in fantasy because of it. After a 26-10 blowout victory on the back of the defense and run game led to disappointing 10 point fantasy day, Lawrence will be looking to right the ship in a game where the game script should favor more passing. The Jaguars QB has always shown potential to succeed in fantasy with his arm talent and solid rushing ability, and now has elite weapons at his disposal. If he were to break out early this season, this week seems like the prime week to do so. Lawrence should be viewed as a high-end QB2 with QB1 upside this week against the Bengals.
The Jacksonville Jaguars could be in for a shootout with the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2, with quarterback Tyler Johnson Due for Increased Work?
Tyler Johnson is slated to command an elevated workload in this Sunday's home matchup with the Buffalo Bills. Johnson - like many of New York's receiving options - picked up minimal work in last weekend's loss to the Steelers. He pulled in both looks for 31 yards, but was a distant third in snapshare (33) behind teammates Garrett Wilson (64) and Josh Reynolds (hamstring [62]). Reynolds will miss Week 2's meeting with Buffalo, meaning Johnson should see an uptick in snaps. Even with the projected increase in work, the University of Minnesota product could fall victim to his team's desire to establish the run. Quarterback Justin Fields attempted only 22 passes in Week 1, and the Baltimore Ravens put up 40 points on Buffalo while Lamar Jackson threw it just 19 times. Johnson is RotoBaller's PPR WR137 in this week's ranks.

Chris Godwin Practicing on Saturday, Unlikely to Play in Week 2
Chris Godwin (ankle) was back on the practice field Saturday ahead of Monday night's matchup with the Houston Texans. Godwin has been working his way back from a dislocated ankle suffered in Week 7 of last season, an injury that required multiple surgeries and delayed his return. In his absence, rookie first-round wideout Emeka Egbuka has capitalized, scoring twice in Week 1, including the game-winner. While Godwin isn't expected back until after Week 4, this ramp-up period is a strong step toward him being a full participant in games once he is cleared.

Ray-Ray McCloud III Still a Viable PPR Option After Solid Week 1
Ray-Ray McCloud III garnered five targets in Week 1, turning them into three receptions for 51 yards with a long of 24 yards. That's about as good as one could hope for from the veteran receiver, and although the team gets Darnell Mooney (shoulder) back in the mix this week, Casey Washington (concussion) will be out with a concussion, and Washington drew six targets in Week 1. It likely means about the same should be expected of McCloud in Week 2 on the road against the Vikings, but with his targets typically of the short variety and not usually a threat to score (one touchdown in '24 on 62 receptions), the 28-year-old is relegated to the WR5 range or a low-end Flex option in PPR leagues.

Patriots Defense a Strong Streaming Option for Week 2
Tua Tagovailoa threw two interceptions and also lost a fumble. While Tagovailoa is historically better playing at home, where he'll be Sunday against New England, last week's atrocious showing against Indianapolis is still enough to sound the panic alarm within the Dolphins organization. Miami couldn't seem to get anything going, and New England has a strong chance to capitalize on that in Week 2, even with Christian Gonzalez (hamstring) sidelined. If the Patriots can rattle Tagovailoa early, they could end up forcing multiple turnovers while keeping Miami to single-digit points. This is a great spot for the Patriots D/ST.
