Kolten Wong Hopes to Stay Healthy and Build On Recent Improvements
7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong had a solid 2017 season whenever he was on the field. The problem with Wong's 2017, however, was how seldom he was on the field. Due to lingering back problems and other injuries, Wong only played in 108 games last season. Despite the limited opportunities, he posted a 2.1 fWAR, the second highest total of his career. In his 108 games, Wong slashed .285/.376/.412 with four home runs and 42 RBI. He struck out just 60 times while drawing 41 walks. Wong's plate discipline makes him an even better choice in OBP leagues, but he's a very solid middle infielder even in standard leagues. If he stays healthy this year, he could be a steal in the later rounds of most fantasy drafts.
