Joey Meneses 2024 Player Outlook: Lack Of Power Not Worth The Investment
9 months agoWashington Nationals first baseman Joey Meneses put forth some solid counting stats in the 2023 season but his lack of power from a corner infield spot really puts a damper on his fantasy value. He has long been a productive bat in the minor leagues but he hit just 13 home runs in his age-31 season in the big leagues in 2023. He produced 71 runs and drove in a quality 89 runs in the process, but he also drew walks at a tiny 5.8% clip and his career .340 BABIP has nowhere to go but south. ATC projects another 13 home runs for the 32-year-old in the 2023 season, but his projected 63 RBI is a far cry from the BABIP-inflated 89 runs he drove in a season ago. Even at a 463.54 ADP, Menesus' dampened outlook should give way to a higher-upside bat in the 2024 campaign.
