Omarion Hampton Top Landing Spots: 2025 NFL Draft Outlook

Omarion Hampton - College Football Rankings, NCAA CFB DFS Lineup Picks - NFL Draft

Dave's landing spots for running back Omarion Hampton in the 2025 NFL Draft. Read the expert draft analysis for Hampton and find out where he may land in the NFL.

The 2025 NFL Draft is only a few weeks away. By all reports, the incoming rookie running back class is seen as the best in nearly a decade.

One of those incoming rookie backs is North Carolina Tar Heel Omarion Hampton. He had a strong showing at the NFL Combine, and it was reported that several teams have him ranked as the RB1 of the class. Hampton is a supremely talented back and will have plenty of suitors in the NFL Draft. It sure sounds like he will be taken early, and we should hear his name called on Day 1.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders recently signed veteran RB Raheem Mostert to a one-year deal. He has a previous history with offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, but that won’t stop them from adding a back in this loaded rookie class.

Las Vegas owns the sixth overall pick in the NFL Draft, and we know new head coach Pete Carroll wants to run the ball. So, it’s possible Las Vegas would be comfortable selecting a back this high even in a loaded running back class. Hampton would be a good fit here.

We also heard murmurs at the NFL Combine that some teams have Hampton ranked ahead of Ashton Jeanty as the RB1. However, it’s been reported that the Raiders are in the market for Jeanty at sixth overall.

So, Las Vegas likely won’t be Hampton’s landing spot unless the team has him ranked as the overall RB1, or he falls to the top of the second round. The latter looks very unlikely, so if the Raiders prefer Hampton, they should look to take him early.

Chicago Bears

Chicago has made several moves to address its offensive line this offseason. The Bears now appear to be in the market for a running back with the 10th overall pick in the NFL Draft.

New head coach Ben Johnson was part of the Detroit Lions team that took Jahmyr Gibbs 12th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s possible that Johnson could look to recreate Detroit’s rushing attack of Gibbs and David Montgomery with Hampton and D'Andre Swift.

Even if they decide to pass on Hampton with the 10th pick, the Bears' new headman seems committed to surrounding quarterback Caleb Williams with talent. We’ll see what the Bears ultimately do when they’re on the clock, but adding a back like Hampton would undoubtedly help this offense.

Dallas Cowboys

Many draft experts have mocked a running back to the Cowboys with the 12th overall selection. The team famously drafted Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. So, we know Dallas is not afraid to take a running back this early, and this landing spot makes sense from that perspective.

However, Dallas added Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams in free agency. While those moves won’t preclude it from taking a back in Round 1, it seems unlikely it’d sign two veteran backs to then use the 12th overall pick on another.

While this would be a fun landing spot for fantasy football purposes, we should probably expect Dallas to address other needs in Round 1.

Denver Broncos

Denver let Javonte Williams walk in free agency, and none of the other backs currently on its roster were very effective last year. Head coach Sean Payton has spoken about the need to improve the running game. As a result, the team is reportedly in the market for a running back.

Hampton would be a great fit in Denver’s offense and would be a force out of this backfield. He would be exactly what this offense lacked in 2024. However, Hampton may not last until the 20th overall pick. If he does, you can expect the Broncos brass will highly consider taking the North Carolina Tar Heel.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh has an opening at running back after opting not to re-sign Najee Harris. It did tender Jaylen Warren and signed Kenneth Gainwell to a one-year contract. However, neither of those two players profile as a lead rusher. This means the Steelers are highly likely to add another back in April's NFL Draft.

The question is whether or not Pittsburgh would spend a first-round pick to do so. The team might be scared off after selecting Harris in the first round and watching him fail to meet expectations.

However, we just finished outlining how the Denver Broncos (who pick directly before the Steelers) are in the market for a back. So, if Pittsburgh wants Hampton, it might have to leapfrog Denver to take him. We’ll see what happens come draft night, but Pittsburgh wouldn’t be the worst landing spot for Hampton's fantasy value.

Los Angeles Chargers

So far, the Chargers have yet to re-sign last year’s starter in J.K. Dobbins and recently cut veteran Gus Edwards. It looks like Los Angeles is remodeling its backfield for the second consecutive offseason. It did sign Najee Harris to a one-year deal, but the team might not be done adding to its running back room.

This is one of the best landing spots on the board for Hampton. We know how much HC Jim Harbaugh wants to run the football. Selecting a back like Hampton with first-round draft capital would send him skyrocketing up draft boards. Harris is not as bad as some people think, but he will not stand in Hampton’s way if this is where the rookie lands.

Unfortunately for Los Angeles, it has several running back-needy teams drafting in front of it. The team would likely need to trade up to select Hampton. That might not be the smartest move considering the depth of this running back class.

So, while this would be an amazing landing spot for Hampton, it’s probably more realistic that Los Angeles addresses other needs in Round 1 and takes a running back on Day 2 or Day 3.
