Yasmany Tomas Is Not a Watch List Player
7 years agoYasmany Tomas’s 2017 season was cut short with injuries. He endured a strained oblique, groin issue, and a hip injury. Since these injuries occurred early in the season, it drastically affected his performance when the injuries continued to compile. Tomas’ 2017 season ended in early June. During his short 2017 season, Tomas had a .268 average against right-handed pitchers and .185 average against left-handed pitchers. This contradicts both his 2016 and 2015 performances. Therefore, it is hard to determine if these stats are true or are a result of injury-riddled performance. He had a couple of surgeries and the hope is he would be ready by spring training. During the offseason Tomas also had an interaction with law enforcement. It has yet to be determined how this will affect Tomas. The Diamondbacks have traded for two additional outfielders this offseason who will be ahead of Tomas on the depth chart. Currently he should not be drafted and very likely could find himself in Triple-A to start the year.
