Rashard Higgins 2019 Outlook: The Possible Number Three in Cleveland
6 years agoThe offense in Cleveland is going to be off the charts this season. With Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry in the locker room. the top two wide receiver slots are secure. This leave a battle for the number three role between Rashard Higgins and Antonio Callaway.
After a slow start with Tyrod Taylor and Hugh Jackson, Callaway came on towards the end of the season to finish with 43 receptions for 586 yards and five touchdowns. Higgins, on the other hand, finished with 39 receptions for 572 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games. This would seemingly give the inside track to Callaway. He stayed healthy through the season and is younger and more talented. If not for off-field issues he could have been a first-round draft pick out of Florida. Luckily for Cleveland, John Dorsey does not look at character flaws when picking players.
If Higgins is able to overtake Callaway in training camp and secure the number three role, he will very likely have fantasy value. All be it not at the level of a WR2/3, but as a flex option or as a fourth or fifth receiver he would make a very nice draft pick. However, we need to see proof of him taking over or the pick is still Callaway. But, of course, this is why you should probably want until after the third preseason game to have your draft.
