Myles Garrett 2024 Outlook: Elite Metrics Should Meet Elite Production… Someday
6 months agoThe reigning Defensive Player of the Year is unlucky. That may seem like a counterintuitive statement, but it's true. No one in the NFL had a higher Pass Rush Win Rate than Garrett did last year. In fact, he has topped all starting pass rushers in that statistic in each of the past two years and has finished top two in the category each of the past three. Of all defenders with at least 359 pass rush snaps last year, Garrett topped PFF's pass rush grades, finished third in pressure rate, and was sixth in quarterback hurries. Despite those pristine metrics, Garrett finished just seventh in sacks last year. The former Aggie has never finished better than third in the NFL in sacks despite routinely leading his position in multiple advanced metrics. At some point, the metrics will translate with Garrett's elite size and physical tools, and he will lead the NFL in sacks. That sort of upside is worth making him a top-five fantasy DL, even if his tackle and forced turnover production cannot compare with the likes of T.J. Watt or Maxx Crosby.
