MarShawn Lloyd 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: Sleeper Limited By Running Back Rotation
4 months agoMarShawn Lloyd was taken in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers to supply depth behind Josh Jacobs alongside AJ Dillon. Lloyd tore his ACL in 2020 and missed his first season at South Carolina, eventually emerging as their starter in his redshirt sophomore season. He would post 5.2 yards per carry with nine touchdowns on just over 100 totes there before transferring to USC ahead of the 2023 season. He would log a robust 7.1 YPC over 116 carries with 232 yards on 13 catches. His big-play ability is further illustrated by PFF's 177 Elusive Rating, one of the best in the draft class. They also charted him with 3.97 yards after contact per attempt, meaning NFL linebackers and defensive backs will have to earn it if he hits the second level. Coach Matt LeFleur historically uses a rotation at RB to keep everyone fresh, with Jacobs being the clear 1A in 2024. But Lloyd could leapfrog Dillon in the mix after AJD put up a poor 3.4 YPC in 2023. *Update* Lloyd worsened a hamstring injury during their preseason game against the Browns that he had been nursing in camp, but is still expected ready for Week 1. Lloyd carries a RotoBaller rank of 163 as the RB53 alongside a half-PPR ADP around pick 150 entering June.
