LeSean McCoy 2018 Outlook: It's Finally Time
6 years agoIt’s going to be a long off-season for LeSean McCoy and his owners. The accusations against McCoy are serious and if true, he won’t be playing football again anytime soon. If they are not true, could he still be facing a suspension? We won’t really know for a while, so investing in McCoy is going to be risky regardless of his ADP.
McCoy has been one of the best running backs in the NFL for a while now, but the combination of age, previous workload and being on a bad team could finally be his downfall. Over nine seasons between the Eagles and Bills, McCoy has had at least 1,000 yards rushing in all but three of those seasons. As the best weapon for the Bills, McCoy will see the volume necessary to hold some value, but will it be quality volume? At quarterback, the Bills will either be starting the rookie Josh Allen, the backup with little game experience A.J. McCarron or the guy who was supposed to be next in line Nathan Peterman.
In addition to the quarterback situation, the Bills also lost two offensive lineman and Kelvin Benjamin and Charles Clay are the best playmakers not named McCoy. A lot of this has to do with the problems around McCoy and not McCoy himself, but the risks are too great.
