Jonathan Stewart 2018 Player Outlook: Veteran Unlikely To Have Much Fantasy Value
6 years agoNew York Giants running back Jonathan Stewart heads to the Big Apple after spending the first 10 seasons of his career with the Carolina Panthers. Stewart spent the 2017 season splitting work with upstart rookie Christian McCaffrey, which resulted in his lowest yardage total since the 2013 season when he played in just six games. Unfortunately for Stewart, he will have to contend with another highly-regarded rookie in 2018 as the Giants used the No. 2 overall pick on Saquon Barkley this past draft. Barkley is one of the top running back prospects to enter the NFL in several years and appears ticketed for a bellcow role in his rookie season. That leaves Stewart as just a backup for Barkley, meaning he will need an injury to occur to have any semblance of fantasy value this year.
