Jelani Woods 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Colts New Weapon
2 years agoAfter the retirement of long-time tight end Jack Doyle, the Indianapolis Colts selected Jelani Woods in the third round of the 202 NFL Draft. After three mediocre seasons at Oklahoma State University, the intriguing prospect transferred to the University of Virginia, where his talent shined. He finished his only season with the team with 44 receptions, 598 yards, eight touchdowns, and a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference. When it comes to a tight end, Woods is the whole package. He stands at 6-foot-7, has 9 ½ inch hands, and weighs a more than respectable 253 pounds. He ran the 40-yard-dash in 4.61 seconds, ranking second out of all tight ends in the league. The 23-year-old sits as TE3 on the depth chart but doesn't have much competition. If Woods continues to impress throughout training camp, he should easily carve out a role in Indianapolis' offense. With an FFPC ADP of 324, Woods isn't worth the pick in most standard fantasy drafts but could be a second or third-round pick in rookie-only drafts.
