Dan Arnold 2022 Outlook: Run Blocker With No Value Absent an Injury In Front Of Him
2 years agoDan Arnold was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in September of last year, and he filled in nicely as a two-way tight end on his way to 35 grabs for 408 yards. He had four games with at least 10 PPR points, including a stretch of three straight games after the bye with at least four catches for 60 yards. Unfortunately, his season was derailed when he injured his knee in Week 12. To make matters worse, the Jaguars went out and signed the explosive, but disappointing, Evan Engram in free agency. Head coach Doug Pederson likes to use 12 personnel often (two tight-end sets), but one thing is certain, Engram cannot block to save his life, so that role will surely go to Arnold, and blocking does not produce fantasy points. As long as Engram is heathy (which is no guarantee), Arnold will not be a usable fantasy asset, but he has the skills and the supporting cast to be a decent plug-in should Engram miss any time or continue with his bad case of the dropsies that he developed in New York. Do not draft Arnold in redraft leagues, but monitor the progress and success of Engram because if he is needed, Arnold can be a nice floor play on an offense that should be trailing a ton this season.
