Chester Rogers 2019 Outlook: Left Out In The Cold
6 years agoIn a season where everything fell right Chester Rogers, he still only produced 53 receptions for 485 yards and two touchdowns. This included T.Y. Hilton missing time with a groin injury, Jack Doyle missing the second half of the season with a hip problem, and even rookie Deon Cain spending the season on injured reserve due to a torn ACL.
Now we come to 2019. Not only is Andrew Luck fully healthy but so is Cain, Hilton, and Doyle. Not to mention the team added Parris Campbell in the draft, and Devin Funchess through free agency. This will mean Rogers falls from the number three option in the passing game to number six or seven. Not even Andrew Luck or Patrick Mahomes for that matter can make seven receiving options fantasy relevant.
It was nice while it lasted. Rogers had the best season of his career in 2018, and it will remain so unless and until he moves on to another team with more targets available. A team looking to build onto their wide receiver group by bringing in a young player. As for 2019, Rogers is currently in Indianapolis. This means he should remain off fantasy rosters for the season. The chance for him to bust is far higher than the slim chance he has to shine.
