Bo Nix 2024 Outlook: The Most Experienced QB in College Football History Hits the NFL
7 months agoOne of the big surprises of 2024 NFL Draft night was the Denver Broncos calling Oregon QB Bo Nix's name at No. 12 overall, but it was evident that Nix had become a favorite of Head Coach Sean Payton's during the scouting process. Nix finished up his final season at Oregon with 3,852 yards passing to go along with 37 TDs to just 2 INTs. He also added 181 yards on the ground to go with 6 TDs and while not an overwhelming athlete, Nix has some sneaky rushing upside for fantasy. Based on how much NFL defenses are utilizing, 2-high safety / soft-shell coverages of late, a QB like Nix who is great on the short stuff fits the current NFL meta like a glove as offenses have to dink and dunk more as defenses look to takeaway explosive plays. While it's hard to feel overly optimistic about the Broncos and their skill players for fantasy in 2024, this year will tell us just how great of a coach and offensive wizard Sean Payton is. Nix is best viewed as a mid to late QB2 as a rookie, but he should be going in the 1st Round of all Superflex Rookie Drafts after starting the most games in CFB history between his time at Auburn and Oregon.
