Austin Ekeler 2019 Player Outlook: Should Perform Regardless Of Melvin Gordon's Situation
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler should be able to perform this season, regardless of the contract situation of Melvin Gordon, although it will affect his ADP. If Gordon holds out into the start of the season, then Ekeler's ADP will climb working in a shared backfield with Justin Jackson. Ekeler holds value if Gordon returns as the teams change of pace back and pass catcher, a role that he has excelled in since entering the league. Ekeler finished the season with 554 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, combined with 39 receptions for 404 yards and three touchdowns. The Chargers offense has been great for fantasy football, especially with veteran quarterback Philip Rivers. If Gordon sits, Ekeler becomes a top 25 fantasy running back, if he doesn't then his outlook isn't that much different- certainly a mid-round selection for fantasy owners this draft season.
