Allen Robinson 2018 Outlook: Bouncing Back to the WR1 Conversation
6 years agoThe Chicago Bears made a big-time splash in the offseason when they signed former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson to a three-year, $42 million deal. Robinson was a monster in the 2016 season with 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns for Jacksonville, but he tore his ACL in Week 1 of 2017. He now finds himself as the number one receiving option for the Bears and second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Matt Nagy is taking over as head coach of Chicago, which should be to Robinson's advantage in hopes of returning to his pre-injury success.
Robinson's 6-foot-3, 209-pound body is tough to cover in red zone situations and should give defenses fits. However, the Bears will actually need to get to the red zone in order for Robinson to obtain these targets, but if all plays out well he could end up as a WR1 by the end of the season. Either way, Robinson should be plenty busy all season long and should have at least 100 targets come his way. He is currently a mid-to-late fourth-round pick, and if he slips to the fifth round or later, he is a must-draft player.
