Should I start A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert for Week 6? Fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and recommendations for the 2025 NFL season.
The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the New York Giants in Week 6 on Thursday Night Football. While the game likely isn't in doubt for many -- it seems pretty clear that the Eagles will win -- knowing who to start in fantasy football is important.
Eagles wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert have all been on the fantasy radar this season, though for different reasons. While Goedert has been a nice surprise, Smith has been very inconsistent, and Brown has been a total disappointment.
The Eagles' offense looks quite different from it did last season. After the departure of Kellen Moore, who is the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, new OC Kevin Patullo has brought in a different system. So, should you start Brown, Smith, and Goedert in Week 6?

Should I Start A.J. Brown for Fantasy Football?
I'm envisioning a nightmare scenario for Brown. The Giants game, unfortunately, isn't likely to be very competitive, and Philadelphia's offense has taken a massive step back, both in the pass and run games, after Moore's departure.
Of all QBs that have played in all five games in 2025, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is the second-least productive passer. He's averaging under 200 passing yards per game. Brown has more often than not been the odd man out. He has just one touchdown through five games and is the WR41 in fantasy.

There are a few problems. Even when Brown has been getting open, Hurts often elects to scramble to pick up extra yards. The offense seems designed to grind the clock down and intentionally avoid using their star players as much as possible when not needed.
This could easily be a get-right game for running back Saquon Barkley. I'm not recommending you sit Brown, but you should temper your expectations. He can just as easily bust.
Should I Start DeVonta Smith for Fantasy Football?
Smith also probably shouldn't be benched because he has plenty of upside. But in what could be a low-pass-rate, grind-it-out game in which the Eagles' defense shuts down the Giants and rookie QB Jaxson Dart, things could be pretty ugly for the game script.

Philly's offense has been mostly poorly run, and film is starting to emerge of Smith and Brown getting in each other's way and the pass game as a whole being wildly ineffective. In addition, the offensive line hasn't been playing as well -- Hurts has been under more pressure than he was last season.
That leads to more scrambles, calling more running plays, and being very conservative with the ball to win games. So far, the biggest beneficiary of these hasn't been Smith or Brown, but the tight end we'll discuss later.
I'm not saying you should bench Smith. You should still start him. But perhaps it's better to sell your Eagles WRs.
Should I Start Dallas Goedert for Fantasy Football?
Goedert has bafflingly outscored Brown and is only a few points behind Smith in overall PPR fantasy scoring this season. This is despite him missing one game. Goedert has played just four contests, but is the TE9 overall, and has double-digit PPR fantasy points in each of his starts.

Infuriatingly for fantasy managers of Brown and Smith, it's been Goedert who's been the most productive pass-catcher when on the field. He's been used heavily in the red zone and caught one, two, and one touchdown pass in his last three games.
Goedert has comfortably been the most consistent receiver for Philadelphia, and tight end is a position that generally doesn't score well, so he's a must-start for Week 6.
