Fantasy Football WR Smash Spots for Week 10: Jameson Williams, Quentin Johnston, Rome Odunze, Stefon Diggs, Darius Slayton

Quentin Johnston - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Nathan's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 10 of 2025. He looks at fantasy football WRs in smash spots for Week 10 including Jameson Williams, Quentin Johnston, Rome Odunze, Stefon Diggs, and Darius Slayton.

Welcome to this week’s Smash Spots at the wide receiver position, where we’ve got several intriguing options who carry massive upside. We just saw multiple receivers erupt in favorable matchups, like Tee Higgins torching the Bears and Marvin Harrison Jr. carving up the Cowboys' secondary.

With the Bengals and Cowboys defenses on bye, some of the easier matchups are unable to be exploited this week, so fantasy managers will need to dig deeper for their smash starts. Making sure your wideouts draw exploitable coverage is crucial; one wrong sit/start choice could cause you to miss out on a week-winning performance.

With that in mind, here are five high-risk, high-reward receivers who are primed to explode in Week 10, offering huge ceiling potential if you’re willing to embrace a little volatility.

Editor's Note: The FFPC Baby Gorilla Tournament is now open, featuring a $100,000 grand prize and a $675,450 total prize pool! This 12-team, Tight End Premium contest uses a 20-round draft format, with the overall winners determined by total points scored during Weeks 15–17. Rome Odunze, WR, Chicago Bears

It was a silent showing in Week 9 from Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze, who was held without a catch in Chicago’s 47-42 win over the Bengals. However, this week sets up as a strong bounce-back opportunity for Odunze.

The second-year receiver faces a vulnerable New York Giants secondary that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season. Both starting cornerbacks, Paulson Adebo (knee) and Cor’Dale Flott (concussion), are dealing with injuries entering the week, which further boosts Odunze’s outlook.

The Giants’ defensive scheme plays right into Odunze’s strengths. They run man coverage on 35.4% of their snaps (second-highest rate in the NFL) and use single-high safety looks on 60.1% (fourth-highest).

Against man coverage, Odunze has excelled, ranking sixth in the NFL in yards per route run and seventh in target rate versus man. In his two games this season against defenses ranking top five in man coverage rate (Lions and Ravens), he’s averaged seven receptions, 120+ yards, and a touchdown.

Fantasy managers should keep an eye on the weather, as winds could play a factor in Chicago this weekend. Still, given the matchup and usage profile, Odunze profiles as a low-end WR1 in Week 10.

Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston bounced back in Week 9, hauling in four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown in the 27-20 win over the Tennessee Titans. Through eight games, the third-year receiver has totaled 32 receptions for 460 yards and six touchdowns, establishing himself as a key piece of this Chargers passing attack.

The wide receiver room has become increasingly crowded with the emergence of rookies Oronde Gadsden II and Tre' Harris, but Johnston remains a focal point, as he’s ranked second on the team in snaps in the last two weeks behind only Ladd McConkey.

Johnston draws an ideal matchup in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have surrendered the most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season. With Jalen Ramsey expected to operate more as a safety/slot corner, the Chargers' outside receivers should see softer coverage on the perimeter.

The Steelers also run single-high safety looks at the third-highest rate in the NFL, a coverage type that favors Johnston’s deep-threat skill set. Notably, the only other defense to rank top five in both man coverage rate and single-high usage is the New York Giants, when Johnston had his best game of the season.

While Johnston remains a volatile option in a crowded receiver rotation, his elite matchup and big-play upside make him a strong boom-or-bust WR2 for Week 10.

Stefon Diggs, WR, New England Patriots

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has found the end zone in back-to-back weeks, and while those touchdowns have helped boost his fantasy value, the underlying production has still been somewhat modest.

Through nine games in his first season with New England, Diggs has recorded 45 receptions on 53 targets for 508 yards and two touchdowns, operating as a steady but not yet explosive piece of the passing attack.

This week, that could change. With Kayshon Boutte (hamstring) trending toward missing Week 10, Diggs is positioned to see an expanded target load from quarterback Drake Maye, who continues to grow more comfortable pushing the ball downfield.

The matchup also tilts in Diggs' favor. The Patriots travel to Tampa Bay in what projects to be a shootout. This game carries the fourth-highest total of the Week 10 slate (48), signaling plenty of offensive possessions and scoring opportunities for both teams.

Tampa Bay’s defense has consistently struggled to contain opposing WR1s, allowing big outings to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and even Kendrick Bourne earlier in the year when San Francisco was banged up. Its secondary has been vulnerable in space and susceptible to well-timed intermediate routes, which is exactly where Diggs thrives.

With increased volume likely headed his way and the game environment setting up for aggressive passing scripts, Diggs profiles as a true smash play in Week 10, carrying both a stable floor and a legitimate ceiling for a breakout performance.

Jameson Williams, WR, Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams had been off to a slow start in 2025, but Week 9 finally showed signs of life. After offensive coordinator John Morton publicly acknowledged that Williams needed to be more involved, the speedy wideout delivered with four receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown against Minnesota.

Expectations were high for Williams following his breakout 2024 campaign, and fantasy managers have understandably been frustrated through the early weeks. However, this performance could signal a true turning point.

Detroit draws the Washington Commanders in Week 10, a defense allowing the second-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Their secondary has been vulnerable all season, and that was on full display in Week 9 when Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold nearly posted a perfect passer rating.

On top of that, the loss of top corner Marshon Lattimore leaves Washington exposed on the outside. With the Commanders playing man coverage at one of the highest rates in the league, Williams is positioned to take advantage of his speed and separation skills.

This is a clear bounce-back spot and a strong opportunity for him to find the end zone again. Start Williams as a high-end WR3 in Week 10.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton hasn’t fully capitalized on his opportunities, but Week 10 brings a real chance for a bounce-back. Since Malik Nabers went down in Week 4, Slayton has caught 13 of 22 targets for 163 yards, averaging 6.8 PPR fantasy points per game in that span.

The veteran receiver has failed to capitalize on his opportunities, dropping two potential touchdowns and having one called back due to pass interference against the Eagles.

The Giants have run through a brutal schedule, facing three top-five defenses against wide receivers since Week 3 and no bottom-12 defenses against receivers since Week 4.

Week 10 finally offers relief. The Bears have allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season, including recent blow-up games from Tee Higgins and Chris Olave.

Chicago plays man coverage at one of the highest rates in the league, and with star corner Jaylon Johnson on injured reserve, Slayton is positioned to take advantage.

Jaxson Dart has been outstanding, but Slayton hasn’t had his breakout moment alongside him yet. In this matchup, that opportunity is there. Fantasy managers can confidently start Slayton in Week 10.
