In this piece, we'll look at three tight ends managers likely added on the waiver wire and could look to start in Week 4.

So, should fantasy managers start Kincaid, Johnson, and Strange in Week 4? Let's dive in and find out.

Should I Start Dalton Kincaid for Fantasy Football?

Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid flashed upside as a rookie when he tallied 673 yards and two scores on 73 receptions. However, in his second season, Kincaid took a steep step back, catching only 44 passes for a mere 448 yards.

Throughout the first three games of the 2025 season, Kincaid appears to be performing as his rookie self and is on track to enjoy a career season. Through their first three games, the former first-round pick has caught 13 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

In each of his last two games, Kincaid has seen at least six targets and is emerging as a consistent option in the offense, despite playing alongside second-year WR Keon Coleman and reliable slot receiver Khalil Shakir. In fact, Kincaid has been a more reliable target for Josh Allen compared to his two wide receivers.

During these two games, Coleman has caught just six total passes for 46 yards, while Shakir has five catches for 57 yards and a touchdown.

As a result, Kincaid carries low-end TE1 upside in a Week 4 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Through the opening month, the Saints' defense struggled to defend opposing tight ends, allowing the 14th-most PPR points to the position. While he has struggled to produce consistency in years past, Kincaid is on track to enjoy a Year 3 breakout, and his current role in the offense should encourage managers to trust him in their lineups.

Should I Start Juwan Johnson for Fantasy Football?

One of the most surprising players at the TE position this season has been Juwan Johnson of the New Orleans Saints. After years of carrying no more than mid-TE2 streaming potential, Johnson has emerged as an elite TE1 through his first three games in the Kellen Moore system.

During this stretch, the veteran tight end has caught 19 of his hefty 29 targets for 176 yards and one touchdown. He has seen at least eight targets in each game and tallied at least 49 yards in each contest.

Johnson is on pace to smash his totals from last season, when he caught only 50 passes for 585 yards and three touchdowns. Given that the Saints continue to push the ball downfield and Spencer Rattler has averaged just under 40.0 passing attempts per game, Johnson should continue to carry one of the safest floors at the position.

While his upside may not be as high as Kincaid's, given his QB's play, his high target share should allow him to push for double-digit PPR points weekly.

This weekend, he will be on the side of the matchup, facing the Bills. With the Saints being heavy underdogs, they will likely push the ball down the field in the second half, which should provide Johnson with ample opportunity to continue his impressive start to the season. He carries mid-end TE1 upside in all formats.

Should I Start Brenton Strange for Fantasy Football?

The final tight end we will look at in this piece is Brenton Strange of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Strange was given some starting opportunities last week when Evan Engram missed time and did not disappoint. In the four games in which he logged at least 45 offensive snaps, he averaged 12.5 PPR points per game.

With Engram now in Denver, Strange was set to operate as the team's clear TE1 in 2025. Despite competing for targets alongside second-year wideout Brian Thomas Jr. and rookie Travis Hunter, Strange had intriguing late-round sleeper appeal in deep formats.

Through his first three games as the team's clear TE1, Strange has looked very promising. During this stretch, the 24-year-old has averaged 8.9 PPR points per game with 45.7 yards per game. However, he has continued to see a consistent number of targets, averaging 5.3 targets per game.

During this stretch, Strange has seen 84% of the team's targets. In addition, with Hunter shifting to the defensive side of the ball and losing targets each week, Strange's role continues to grow. Thomas has had a difficult start to the season and could see his opportunities slightly decline.

This week, Strange and the Jaguars will face the 3-0 San Francisco 49ers. While the 49ers have shut down opposing WRs at an elite level, they have struggled to defend tight ends. The 49ers have allowed the 13th-most PPR points per game, which could open the door for Strange to enjoy another productive outing.

However, when comparing him to Kincaid and Johnson, Strange carries the lowest floor, given that he has only eclipsed double-digit PPR points once this season. He carries high-end TE2 upside in this matchup.
