Jarvis Landry 2019 Outlook: Solid PPR Production at a Discount
6 years agoCleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry may not be the player you want in fantasy drafts but he may be the player you need. After one of the most productive starts to an NFL career by any wide receiver, Landry hasn't generated much excitement since joining the Browns. In 2017, he led the league with 112 receptions and scored nine TD in his final year as a Dolphin. In a 2018 season filled with turnover at both head coach and quarterback in Cleveland, Landry saw his reception total drop by 31 and scored just four times.
The acquisition of elite WR and former LSU teammate Odell Beckham may reinforce the fact that Landry won't be a focal point of the offense despite its vast potential. On the other hand, Landry may benefit from having Beckham to draw attention away from the secondary and the team has a three talented running backs along with a budding star at QB in Baker Mayfield. As the slot receiver on one of the most promising offenses in the NFL, Landry could fly under the radar in fantasy drafts.
Landry is being valued just outside the top 25 receivers, making him a WR3 to target in the sixth round of 12-team PPR leagues. While not quite as exciting due to his lack of splash plays, Landry's floor is higher than players going ahead of him such as Mike Williams, Chris Godwin, and Calvin Ridley.
