Braelon Allen 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: Earning No. 2 RB Role To Begin Year 1
6 months agoBraelon Allen was selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft after three consecutive Wisconsin seasons with double-digit rushing touchdowns. He joins a hungry Jets' offense looking to redefine itself after an injury-laden 2023 where Breece Hall broke out despite the quarterback woes. Early buzz from OTAs has Allen, who had 5.9 yards per collegiate carry and is showing pass-catching prowess at practice, edging Israel Abanikanda for the No. 2 role. Dalvin Cook operated behind Hall last season with 67 carries and 20 targets, which speaks to the limited opportunity as the No. 2 RB. However, Cook and his 3.2 YPC weren't clamoring for increased work while a better form out of Allen might. The backup role shouldn't yield much redraft value beyond a handcuff even with NYJ's improved offensive outlook. Allen's June ADP and RotoBaller rank in half-PPR drafts is just outside of the top 200 as buzz starts to grow about his improved standing on the depth chart.
