The Tampa Bay Rays are off to a red-hot start in 2023 and have the best record in the big leagues as we head into the middle of May.
What might be most amazing about this story is that the team is doing it without arguably their top pitcher, Tyler Glasnow. He's been injured and hasn't pitched in quite some time.
Will there be a Glasnow return in the near future? What does his status mean for your fantasy baseball team? Let's take a look at the latest reports and find an answer.

Tyler Glasnow Injury Update
The freakishly tall right-hander was removed after the first inning of his second rehab start on Wednesday with what was described as "generalized left side tightness." The bad news is that he was taken out of his rehab start; the good news is that all parties are saying the move was extremely "precautionary," Phewwwww, right? Wrong; with his injury history, there should be a major pause in any excitement thrown his way.
The team and the pitcher mutually agreed there was no reason to push it with their ace on the mend, with the hope they can gradually get him back to 100%. Unfortunately for the Rays and fantasy baseball managers, he hasn't been 100% in a very long time. The good news is that Glasnow is expected to resume his minor-league rehab assignment Tuesday in Triple-A Durham.
#Rays Cash said the report from doctor on Glasnow was good, no new injury, is expected to resume his rehab assignment on Tuesday, and then make one more start after that

Tyler Glasnow Fantasy Baseball Outlook
Imagine how good this dominant Rays team would be if they got a talent like Glasnow back at the top of the rotation alongside fellow ace Shane McClanahan. Unfortunately, the former can't seem to stay healthy.
The 29-year-old missed a significant portion of 2019 with a forearm issue, underwent the dreaded Tommy John Surgery in 2021, and missed most of 2022. He hasn't pitched this season due to his oblique injury, and there are no concrete answers as to when he might find his way to the mound. Injuries of this sort can be tricky to deal with, depending on the severity.
Fantasy owners have a choice. They can trust the team that this was just a "minor setback" and only a 'precautionary" move, or they can panic that it's more serious and their star pitcher won't be seen in a major league uniform for quite some time. I'd say the correct answer is probably somewhere in between.
