Ray Davis 2026 Fantasy Football Outlook: James Cook III Insurance...Again
Ray Davis is a reserve running back for the Buffalo Bills who has the unfortunate luck to be stuck behind the NFL rushing leader from 2025, James Cook III. Not only is Cook one of the best backs in the league and in fantasy football, he is also one of the most durable, having missed just two games in four seasons. That is why Davis was limited to 58 rushing attempts and 10 receptions in 2025. Third-string back Ty Johnson had 74 touches due to being a better-skilled pass catcher out of the backfield. Davis is a solid runner when given the chance, but his chances are few and far between and that probably will not change much in 2026. Cook and Johnson are both back in the fold, so the best Davis can ask for 100-120 touches unless one of his teammates gets nicked up. He would be better off on another team in an offense that employs a running-back-by-committee approach instead of Buffalo where Cook is worked like a cook at an understaffed diner. Take Davis in fantasy leagues only as insurance if you rostered Cook first. Otherwise, there is not much you can do with the 200-300 rushing yards he will provide.
