Sean Manaea Looks For A Breakout 2018
7 years ago2017 was a rough season for the former first round pick of the Oakland Athletics. Manaea started his season off as bad as you could possibly have imagined, but then he found a groove where he was keeping runs off the board and looking like he was going to have a breakout season. That game to a stop and then the rest of his season was pretty much up and down. With a 7.94 K/9 and a walk rate of 3.12 per nine that doesn’t really scream off the page at you. That being said Manaea was a first round selection, plays for Oakland who has a history of developing pitchers, and is still very young. There is promise here and definitely some upside. Whether he reaches that upside remains to be seen. Expect another 10-12-win season with an ERA somewhere around 3.9-4.2, you could do better, you could do worse with having Sean Manaea on your team.
