John's one-man dynasty fantasy football rookie draft breakdown for Superflex and 1QB leagues from the fifth pick. His sleepers for 2026 dynasty rookie drafts.
Mock drafts featuring selections for every pick in every round can help gauge where players are ranked and how they might be chosen in real dynasty fantasy football leagues. But you're never choosing all the players in the draft.
So, it can be helpful to explore what might happen if you're at a certain pick in your leagues, or at least close to it. We'll take a look at what drafts might look like with a middle-of-the-round pick -- in this case, we'll have the fifth pick.
Picks will be made for both Superflex and 1QB leagues, as both are quite popular in dynasty. So, let's dive into a one-man draft from the fifth spot for a hypothetical 12-team dynasty fantasy football rookie mock draft for the 2026 season!

Round 1
Superflex League Pick: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State
Superflex leagues are probably the only ones in which a player of Tyson's caliber will fall to the fifth pick. And there's arguably a very steep drop-off after he, WR Carnell Tate, WR Makai Lemon, QB Fernando Mendoza, and RB Jeremiyah Love in dynasty drafts this year.
Tyson has the makings of a blue-chip prospect. He's a fantastic route runner, elite ball-tracker, and dynamic athlete after the catch. He crushed every type of coverage he faced, and can be moved all over the formation. It makes the most sense to do so in the NFL.
Jordyn Tyson’s short route running and release package is elite. He just destroys man.
He is such an effortless mover and has sharpness to his COD.

There isn't a world in which I'd pick Tate over Tyson in dynasty drafts. Tyson might get sniped and leave you with Tate, who himself is a good prospect, but there's a gap between the two, according to my analysis. Tyson is the more pro-ready prospect. He should get plenty of work immediately on his new team.
1QB League Pick: Denzel Boston, WR, Washington
The fall-off is steep, but Boston has the physical tools, like size, speed, and vertical ability, to succeed in a "Z" type role in the NFL. Being a team's No. 1 X receiver probably isn't ideal for him early on, and he might not have the talent to be more than a WR2 for much of his career.
But he should be a good red-zone weapon and contested-catch specialist. His route running is good for his size, but it's probably not how he'll win consistently in the NFL without a lot of development. For his size, you'd like to see him bully smaller cornerbacks and attack the ball a bit more.

WRs generally don't level up massively in that department, either. Sure, they might get on a better horse meat and natural supplements that totally naturally stimulate muscle growth plan in the league. But it's the mental understanding and finer details that develop better.
He should have a good career, though. He's a solid pick here, especially if he goes to a team with elite offensive coaching.
Round 2
Superflex League Pick: Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU
Our second pick will be around spot 17. We have a choice between a lot of future RB2s, a lot of receivers who might have just sparingly playing time, and the TE2 of the class. Picking a quarterback who could become a mid-tier starter probably is the better choice here.
Nussmeier struggled with an abdominal injury in 2025 and wasn't able to play his best football. But the 2024 tape reveals his excellent arm strength. He has the zip to make any required throw at the next level and has solid accuracy.

He's 24 years old, but that's irrelevant for quarterbacks, as they have much longer careers than players at each other position that's commonly drafted in dynasty leagues. In SF leagues, you should capitalize on his fall in drafts due to his injury.
1QB League Pick: Nicholas Singleton, RB, Penn State
We might be interested in Tennessee WR Chris Brazzell II here, but we picked a WR in the first round. Singleton has all the athletic measurables of a workhorse RB. He's big, strong, fast, and powerful. But he has poor vision and struggles making reads on his runs.
It could be enough to prevent him from becoming a workhorse back. But landing in a good offense could help alleviate these issues. He's great as a pass-catcher, so PPR upside could be in his future. Where he lands will be very important, as it is with many players, with his struggles.

I'll probably be selecting Singleton quite often in the second round in fantasy drafts this season. If he lands on a team with poor offensive coaching, though, his career could quickly be derailed, especially if that team has bad offensive line play. He might fall pretty far in dynasty drafts in that case -- and if you pass on him and he's there in the third round, he'd be a steal.
Round 3
Superflex League Pick: Zachariah Branch, WR, Georgia
Branch projects to be a slot receiver at the next level. In the third round, a starting slot receiver is quite a good return for what you invested in rookie drafts. He doesn't have much strength, has a tall frame, and can be bullied on his routes easily, though, especially at the next level.
“My Guy” WR Zachariah Branch is what the Falcons need…burner speed, raw athleticism, lose your ass in a phone booth elusiveness….demon returning punts.
2025:
🐶81 catches, 811 yds, 6 TD
🐶15 PR, 180 yds
🐶10 KR, 205 yds https://t.co/51qafwxubG pic.twitter.com/iP3QMSWZkt— Clint Goss (@NFLDraftDome) January 5, 2026
Making the most out of designed touches is his forte, and he'll need to land on a team that can utilize him properly. He has nice speed, and he's quite shifty with the ball in his hands. He does need to work on his route salesmanship, though.

A limited skill set and intriguing athleticism can lead to a wide range of outcomes depending on the landing spot.
1QB League Pick: Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU
Players often fall in drafts thanks to injuries. That's the case with Nussmeier, as described above. Snagging him in the third round makes a lot of sense. There's a dearth of QB talent in the NFL right now. He's a less exciting pick if he lands on a team with an established QB1, though.
Round 4
Superflex League Pick: Jadyn Ott, RB, Oklahoma
Ott could eventually get some work as a pass-catching back and perhaps running some routes out of the pattern. He doesn't have great size and isn't super tough, but at this point in the draft, we're trying to squeeze value out wherever we can.

Non-Superflex League Pick: Seth McGowan, RB, Kentucky
It's not hard to see the upside with McGowan. He follows in the footsteps of Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis, who also went to Kentucky, though he's quite a bit faster at a similar weight and has great acceleration. McGowan should be able to win the RB2 job somewhere.

Depending on where he lands, the upside of a high-end handcuff RB could be in his future. He could also get significant early down reps on some teams, which would help him be startable depending on the size of the starting lineup of your dynasty league.
