George Kittle 2020 Outlook: Will Challenge For TE1 Status
5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was a consensus top-three tight end heading into 2019 fantasy drafts. A year later, he’s now a consensus top-two guy. Kittle missed a pair of games last season, but he caught 85 passes for 1053 yards and five touchdowns in the 14 games he played, with an impressive catch rate of 79.4 percent. Kittle serves as the ultimate safety blanket for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and seems to be virtually impossible to take down, allowing him to finish with 602 yards after the catch in 2019. He is the top receiving threat in San Francisco, and as long as he can stay healthy, the former Iowa Hawkeye should continue to trend up. In fact, if he can become a bigger threat to score touchdowns in the red zone — only two of his five touchdowns last year came inside the 20 yard line — we could see Kittle take the fantasy TE1 crown away from Chiefs star Travis Kelce. But even if he doesn’t, Kittle’s worth a late second round pick in redraft leagues, and he’s the undisputed TE1 in dynasty leagues now, as he has a significant age advantage over his biggest competition.
