Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups - Darren Waller, Kyle Pitts, Gunnar Helm Fantasy Football Outlooks

Darren Waller - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Week 6 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Darren Waller, Kyle Pitts, Gunnar Helm in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

In Week 5 of the NFL season, fantasy managers saw many tight ends emerge on the waiver wire as potential starting options in the fantasy landscape. With the chaos that is the tight end position in fantasy football, fantasy managers are looking for potential league-winners or fill-ins at the position.

With players like Brock Bowers and George Kittle injured, as well as T.J. Hockenson and Mark Andrews underperforming, finding an elite tight end is very important at this point in the season.

So, should you pick up Waller, Pitts, or Helm in your fantasy football leagues for Week 6 of 2025? Let's dive in.

Darren Waller Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 68% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in all leagues

Miami Dolphins tight end Darren Waller is starting to look like his old self to open the 2025 season. After returning from injury in Week 4, the veteran has hauled in eight of nine targets for 105 yards and three touchdowns. The former Raiders and Giants star came out of retirement this offseason and is already making an immediate impact in Miami’s offense.

Waller has been eased back in, playing just 43% of the snaps in Weeks 4 and 5, but that number is expected to climb as he regains full health. His early efficiency and red-zone involvement suggest he’s quickly becoming a key piece of the Dolphins’ passing attack, similar to what they had in 2024 with Jonnu Smith.

Last year, Smith thrived in this same role, catching 88 passes for 884 yards and eight touchdowns, finishing as the TE4. From Week 6 onward, he averaged 13.1 half-PPR points per game (second only to Trey McBride). That kind of production shows how valuable the tight end position can be in this offense.

Waller’s rest-of-season outlook is even brighter when looking ahead to the fantasy playoffs. From Weeks 13 through 16, he faces the Saints, Jets, Steelers, and Bengals, all ranking inside the top 10 in most fantasy points allowed to tight ends.

With Tyreek Hill done for the season and Waller’s role expanding, he’s a must-own player who carries legitimate league-winning upside down the stretch.

Kyle Pitts Sr. Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 64% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in All Leagues (Sell-High)

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. has opened the 2025 season on a strong note. Through four games, he’s caught 20 of 24 targets for 205 yards and a touchdown, ranking as the TE11 on a per-game basis.

The former fourth-overall pick appears motivated in his contract year and is currently on pace for career highs in receptions, touchdowns, and, most importantly, fantasy points Pitts’ usage metrics support his breakout potential, as he ranks 11th among tight ends in target share (18.3%), fifth in route participation (90.5%), and first in true catch rate (100%).

Darnell Mooney has been limited, and Pitts has looked like a top-tier fantasy option. In Weeks 1 and 4, with Mooney playing under 50% of the snaps, Pitts averaged 15.5 PPR points per game. However, in the other two contests, with Mooney active on over 85% of the snaps, Pitts managed just 7.8 PPG.

With the Falcons coming out of their bye week, Mooney should be full-strength, and that could cause Pitts to be phased out of the passing attack. While Pitts should remain rostered across all formats, he shapes up as a prime sell-high candidate before target competition increases.

Gunnar Helm Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 1% of Leagues

Baller Move: Monitor in 12+ Team Leagues

Tennessee Titans rookie tight end Gunnar Helm turned in the best game of his young career in Week 5. Through five weeks, Helm has hauled in 11 of 13 targets for 98 yards, averaging just 3.1 half-PPR fantasy points per game.

However, his role took a major leap this past week, participating in 70% of the snaps, surpassing veteran Chig Okonkwo (66%). Offensive coordinator Nick Holz also noted that Helm’s target share will increase moving forward, which bodes well for his long-term outlook.

Unfortunately, the Titans’ offense has been among the league’s worst to start the season, ranking 31st in total yards, last in points per game, and last in passing yards per game. That environment limits Helm’s immediate fantasy upside.

The 2025 fourth-round pick is worth monitoring given his rising usage, but until Tennessee’s offense shows signs of life, Helm remains more of a “watch list” candidate than a weekly fantasy option.
