Dave Funnell - RotoBaller

Husband - Father - Teacher - Baseball Nut I've been following baseball since a child, but as it stands, I don't have a favorite team. While that might sound a bit odd, it helps take the emotion out of it when I'm figuring out who to add or drop. I have been playing fantasy baseball for almost twenty years. I got into writing about it about ten years ago, and have been reporting news and analyzing data ever since. While I love everything about it, my true passion and strength comes from studying, reporting, and speculating on injuries. I've written on many sites, such as PitcherList, Fantrax, and of course, Rotoballer, and have also helped host a podcast called "The Fantasy Baseball Beat". Other than baseball, I enjoy fantasy football, NBA basketball, and....cough cough....WWE wrestling (for my kids, of course;)). You can follow me on Twitter/X at @sportz_nutt51. My DM's are always open for anything you'd like to talk about. Also, I use the hashtag #FunnellVision for all major injury updates.

Daniel Robert Placed on Injured List with Blister

Philadelphia Phillies reliever Daniel Robert (finger) went on the 15-Day Injured List on Friday with a blister on his right middle finger. It's unclear how much time the right-handed reliever will miss, but blisters can tend to linger in length if they are not completely healed before a player begins pitching again. Robert has struggled […]

Robert Stephenson Frustrated by Slow Progress

Los Angeles Angels reliever Robert Stephenson (bicep) has advanced to throwing from 105 feet and is anticipating that he will throw from up to 120 feet this weekend. While he is optimistic that he will pitch again this season, he is also becoming increasingly frustrated by his lack of progress and inability to stay healthy. […]

Christian Moore Resumes Baseball Activities

Los Angeles Angels second baseman Christian Moore (thumb) has resumed baseball activities. He was spotted Friday playing catch and taking batting practice before the team's game. Cleveland Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas (foot) has met with a doctor to discuss the next steps needed as he recovers from a foot injury. Denzel Clarke Doing Limited Activities

Athletics outfielder Denzel Clarke (groin) is doing limited baseball activities as he is recovering from a Grade 2 adductor strain. The speedy 25-year-old injured himself while running the bases in a game at Cleveland this past weekend. It is somewhat encouraging that he has been able to participate in limited workouts thus far. However, he […]

Alek Manoah Making Rehab Appearance on Sunday

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah (elbow) will make his second rehab appearance this Sunday for Single-A Dunedin. Nick Sandlin Plays Catch

Toronto Blue Jays reliever Nick Sandlin (elbow) was placed on the injured list on July 8 after experiencing right elbow inflammation. Bowden Francis Shut Down for at Least 10 Days

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Bowden Francis (shoulder) will be shut down for the foreseeable future after experiencing shoulder discomfort while ramping up at the team’s player development complex. Tanner Houck Finishes Rehab Assignment, Could be Optioned to Minors

Boston Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck (elbow) completed his rehab assignment this past Thursday, finishing five starts with a 5.74 ERA over 15 rehab innings. He threw one of those games for Double-A Portland and the other four for Triple-A Worcester. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that the team hasn't decided where he will […]

Joe Musgrove Throws Bullpen at 75% Intensity

San Diego Padres right-handed pitcher Joe Musgrove (elbow) tossed his first bullpen since undergoing Tommy John surgery last October. He threw a handful of pitches at about 75% intensity and measured his fastball at around 80 mph. Both Musgrove and the training staff are happy with the results as he continues to work his way […]

Ryan Mountcastle Ramping Up for a Return

Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) has started ramping up his physical activities as he prepares for a return to the team's lineup. He was spotted doing resistance running as well as swinging a bat during pre-game warmups. While Mountcastle still has a ways to go, he continues to improve daily. Originally given a […]

Bailey Ober Throws a Successful Bullpen Session

Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober (hip) threw a successful bullpen session on Wednesday. This happened days after he had anti-inflammatory medicine to help ease the pain from the impingement in his left hip. He will continue to do this while attempting to get his mechanics back in order. Entering the season, it was believed that […]

Patrick Sandoval Confident He will Pitch in 2025

Boston Red Sox left-handed pitcher Patrick Sandoval (elbow) continues to show progress daily, as he attempts to return to the mound and pitch for the Red Sox in 2025. He has already thrown multiple bullpens a week and has incorporated curveballs in those sessions. Despite his confidence, the 28-year-old noted that he still has many […]

Ken Waldichuk will Need Additional Rehab Starts

Athletics left-handed pitcher Ken Waldichuk (elbow) will need to make a few more rehab starts before the team considers bringing him back to the major leagues. Joe Jimenez Throws First Bullpen Since Knee Surgery

Atlanta Braves reliever Joe Jimenez (knee) threw his first bullpen session this past week, since undergoing offseason knee surgery. He started one last […]

Cristian Javier Continues to Throw Live Batting Practice

Houston Astros starter Cristian Javier (elbow) has thrown multiple live bullpen sessions as he continues to ramp his arm back up to game form. Spencer Arrighetti Will Throw One More Bullpen Before Facing Live Batters

Houston Astros right-hander Spencer Arrighetti (thumb) will throw one more bullpen session before advancing to face live batters.
