Week 6 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Hassan Haskins, Isaiah Davis, Ollie Gordon in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.
Trying to get ahead of the game and find the next backup running back that's in line to get more work out of the backfield, or potentially take over duties in place of an injured starter, is never an easy task.
But we've seen recent examples, like those of Arizona Cardinals running back Michael Carter and Carolina Panthers RB Rico Dowdle, where it can pay off massively, basically immediately.
Both Carter and Dowdle had huge games in Week 5 in place of their injured starters, with Dowdle in particular putting up over 30 PPR fantasy points. So let's break down three potential waiver wire pickups for backup RBs!

Ollie Gordon II Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 34% of Leagues
Baller Move: Add Only as Handcuff
Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II didn't do much in Week 5. The entire run game was pretty much nonexistent -- Gordon rushed three times for negative two yards, and starting RB De'Von Achane ran 10 times for just 16 yards, averaging 1.6 yards per carry.
Without wide receiver Tyreek Hill (knee) to stretch the field vertically and open up things for the run game, it appears that teams are much more willing to play closer to the line of scrimmage and focus more heavily on stopping the run. At least preliminarily, that's worked very well.

You can see plenty of issues with the run game if you break down the film, like in the above post, where an offensive line coach gives his thoughts. Things just don't look good, though, and that was against the Panthers, who have one of the NFL's worst run defenses.
In deeper leagues where all RB2s need to be rostered, it makes sense to pick up Gordon. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't. There's a good chance he doesn't even have starting value if Achane suffers an injury because Gordon is not a pass-catching RB.
Hassan Haskins Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 6% of Leagues
Baller Move: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
Haskins is set to get more running back work after the injury to Chargers lead back Omarion Hampton (ankle), who's now on injured reserve. As of now, it looks like Haskins is set to be in a roughly even backfield split with second-year pro RB Kimani Vidal.

There isn't much data giving us conclusive proof on how each will be deployed, but it seems that Vidal will be the third-down and pass-catching back while Haskins could handle early-down work. If the Chargers get to the red zone, and that's a highly questionable prospect, he's also likely to handle goal-line touches.
In PPR leagues, it's probably better to grab Vidal. But in non-PPR leagues, Haskins' likelihood of stealing a rushing touchdown or two gives him more upside.
Isaiah Davis Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 12% of Leagues
Baller Move: Add Only as Handcuff
With Jets backup RB Braelon Allen (knee) out for an extended period of time, it will be Davis who will take the backup duties. In Week 5, against the Dallas Cowboys, that amounted to only four touches. Lead running back Breece Hall handled the majority of the team's carries and receptions for RBs.
That doesn't seem likely to change. The team giving Davis a significantly bigger workload, even though he's the third-stringer, wouldn't make a lot of sense. Hall has been playing well -- sometimes, the team has bad defensive matchups, but he's done a good job considering that.

Davis has mostly been working on third downs, helping out in pass-protection, and occasionally handling a touch. He scored 6.3 PPR fantasy points in Week 5, carrying the ball once for five yards and catching three passes for 28 yards. He has major potential if Hall goes down, but if not, he's just a bench stash as a handcuff.
