Kyle Larson has A Strong Finish of Third at San Diego
Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson had another strong result in Sunday's Anduril 250 Race the Base at Naval Base Coronado. Larson began the race from 14th position and had a car capable of moving up through the field, as he worked his way to the top 10 by midway through the first stage. The No. 5 Chevrolet driver ended up moving up to third by the end of the first stage as others went to pit road before the stage break, allowing Larson to score eight stage points. In the second stage, Larson moved to the middle of the pack as he pitted during the stage break, but was able to regain positions after avoiding a multicar accident started by Austin Hill, Shane Van Gisbergen, and Connor Zilisch. Larson moved up to the lead, but then went to pit road before the end of the second stage, moving him back to end the stage in 19th with no further stage points. In the final stage, Larson continued recovering positions and found his way back up to the lead midway through the stage, ahead of Corey Heim until his final pit stop on lap 60. After the race's final restart on lap 64, Larson challenged Carson Hocevar to the lead, but fell back behind him, Tyler Reddick, and Heim. Although Larson got past Hocevar after he spun, he was unable to catch up with Reddick and Heim and instead spent the rest of the race battling for position with Bubba Wallace. Wallace stayed ahead of Larson, but Larson did get past Reddick after he had a flat tire, leaving Larson to finish in third place. With his seventh top-5 result of the year, Larson moves to fourth in the regular-season standings after 17 Cup races this season.
