Faizon Brandon Officially Named Tennessee's Starting Quarterback
Tennessee has officially named true freshman Faizon Brandon its starting quarterback for 2026, according to On3's Pete Nakos. Rivals.com's No. 10 overall player (No. 3 quarterback) in the Class of 2026 has impressed in his first collegiate spring and fall camp, flashing his live arm and mobility, which separated him from second-year signal-caller George MacIntyre. Brandon becomes the first true freshman to start the opening game for Josh Heupel since Dillon Gabriel in 2019 at UCF. While there will be a steep learning curve in his first season in the SEC, Tennessee possesses one of the top offensive lines in the country, a returning 1,000-yard rusher (DeSean Bishop), and two 800-yard wide receivers (Braylon Staley, Mike Matthews). If any true freshman is set up for success in 2026, it's Brandon, thanks to his supporting cast and elite offensive mind at head coach. The Vols begin the season at home against Furman in Week 1 before a road trip to Atlanta to take on Alberto Mendoza and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
