Aaron Jones 2021 Outlook: The Sky's the Limit
4 years agoAfter consecutive top-five fantasy finishes, Aaron Jones has a great chance to three-peat. In 2019 we saw his ability to provide elite upside (scoring a total of 19 touchdowns) and despite the much-anticipated touchdown regression in 2020, Jones finished as the RB5 last season. What was arguably most impressive last season was that he was able to produce consistently, posting only two games outside the top 24 backs. Somehow, Jones' upside is even larger in 2021 after Jamaal Williams signed in Detroit. Green Bay had the ninth-most targets to the running back position last season, 30% of which went to Williams. Although sophomore back, A.J. Dillon will see an increased role on the ground, he only had 21 receptions over his entire college career, making Jones the primary runner and pass catcher for one of the best offenses in the league. As if the situation could not get any better, the Packers gave Jones a four-year extension and made him the sixth highest-paid back for 2021. Fantasy managers like to call this "work-horse money". On the off-chance that Rodgers is not in town next season, Jones should still see enough work to be an RB2 with RB1 upside. However, if Rodgers stays in Green Bay, Jones should be one of the first five backs drafted in all formats.
