ANALYSIS: After battling injuries throughout all of training and the majority of the preseason, fourth-round rookie Cam Skattebo had a minimal role in their season-opening loss to the Washington Commanders. In this contest, the Arizona State product saw just seven total offensive snaps and took only two carries.
In this limited role, Skattebo ran the ball for -3 yards and added 12 yards on two receptions.
However, during their thrilling overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, Skattebo had a much more promising role. In this contest, the rookie logged 33 offensive snaps and took 11 carries for 45 yards and saw three targets. He caught two of them for another 14 yards. More importantly, Skattebo punched in a rushing score.
In this contest, the presumed starter Tyrone Tracy Jr., took just five carries. However, he did see a larger role in the passing game (five targets).
While fantasy managers should expect Tracy and Skattebo to split most of the work going forward, it appears Skattebo's role is more positive for fantasy as he will see more touches and the red zone opportunities. While he may carry less upside in PPR formats given his lower receiving upside, Skattebo carries flex potential in all half-PPR/standard leagues heading into Week 3 and is worth adding in all formats this week.
