Top 300 Fantasy Baseball Rankings - Nick Mariano's Rest-of-Season Outlooks for Spencer Steer, Royce Lewis, Liam Hendriks, more

Spencer Steer - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB News

Nick's updated top 300 fantasy baseball rankings for roto as of Week 10 (June 1, 2023). His rest-of-season rankings and projections for hitters and pitchers.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! We are in Week 10, and May is in the books. It's time for another rankings check-in. Below is another edition of Nick Mariano's updated 2023 fantasy baseball rankings and tiers for roto leagues (5x5 mixed leagues) as of June 1, 2023. These rankings are being released in June and are looking at rest-of-season fantasy baseball rankings and player values for the rest of this MLB season from this point forward. There are many interesting storylines we are following closely, all baked into these updated rankings.

We have recently seen some top prospects, such as Minnesota Twins shortstop Royce Lewis, Los Angeles Angels right-hander Ben Joyce, and Atlanta Braves pitcher A.J. Smith-Shawver called up to the big leagues. At the same time, fantasy managers patiently wait for the call-up of Cincinnati Reds third base prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand, who has homered in three of his last six games. The 23-year-old has legit power and has smashed 13 homers in Triple-A Louisville.

Chicago Cubs top pitching prospect Ben Brown was recently promoted to Triple-A and was terrific in his last start. Brown allowed one earned run while striking out 11 batters over five innings. Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Bobby Miller continues to roll since being called up on May 23. Miller owns a 1.64 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a 9:2 K: BB across 11 innings. Atlanta Braves right-hander Michael Soroka returned to the mound and made his first MLB start since Aug. 3, 2020.

June Top-300 Updates

Injuries continue to pile up; the Baltimore Orioles placed outfielder Cedric Mullins (groin) on the injured list, while the Detroit Tigers placed outfielder Riley Greene (leg) on the 10-day IL with a stress fracture in his left fibula. Tampa Bay Rays star infielder Wander Franco (shoulder) is tending to a left shoulder injury. Chicago Cubs pitcher Justin Steele will undergo an MRI on his forearm after exiting Wednesday's start early.

Reinforcements are coming, as New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) and third baseman Josh Donaldson (hamstring) are expected to return Friday. Last Sunday, the Chicago White Sox reinstated Eloy Jimenez (appendectomy) from the 10-day injured list, while reliever Liam Hendriks (illness) struck out cancer and made his triumphant return on Monday. Hendriks allowed two earned runs on three hits and one walk over an inning in his season debut.

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Spencer Steer has been on an absolute tear, slashing .404/.429/.635 with two home runs, 10 RBI, and 11 runs over the last 56 plate appearances, including logging a hit in 11 of his previous 12 games. Cincinnati Reds prospect Matt McLain is slashing .432/.488/.676 with two home runs, seven RBI, and a stolen base over his eight games. Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jake McCarthy is showing off the wheels by swiping five bags over his last five games since being recalled on May 26th.

Some players are off to a terrific start, while some have struggled mightily to start the year. Which of these starts do we take seriously, and which do we put less stock into? Is it time to elevate our expectations on certain players and elevate touted prospects into a higher tier for fantasy baseball leagues? How much patience must we show for highly-touted players who have struggled out of the gate, especially veterans with proven track records?

Hopefully, the rankings below will give you some perspective on our thoughts on these topics and help you assess the strength of your rosters going forward. Let's see where players such as Spencer Steer, Matt McLain, Jake McCarthy, Jose Siri, Josh Jung, Hunter Brown, Liam Hendriks, Francisco Alvarez, Jason Adam, Bobby Miller, Tyler Wells, Michael Kopech, Bryan De La Cruz, Elly De La Cruz, Trevor Story, and Taj Bradley rank, all of who are off to interesting starts in 2023.

Top 300 Fantasy Baseball Rankings - Week 10 Update

These rankings will be updated every week throughout the season, so some of these situations are very fluid. It's not panic time yet, and we may not be ready to elevate hot-starting players into the elite yet either, but it's certainly a good checkpoint for the long fantasy season.

As always, be sure to stay on top of all the MLB news with our running list of 24x7 fantasy baseball news and injuries. And if you don't yet have our free mobile app, be sure to download it and stay on top of all the MLB news and analysis with our free push notification alerts.

Nick Mariano's ranks are as of June 1, 2023. They are for 5x5 category mixed roto leagues and will be updated regularly on our main fantasy baseball rankings dashboard all season long. Be sure to read our daily fantasy baseball analysis articles as well.
