Recent Update

9/25:Right-hander Aaron Nola kicked off the final week of the regular season with another strong start in a losing effort. The 24-year-old put forth another quality start, his 17th in 28 tries, going six innings and surrendering just two runs on five hits and two walks. He would strike out nine Nationals, tossing 106 pitches during the start. The big blow came in the second inning, as Nola allowed a two-run home run that would ultimately prove to be the biggest hit in the game. This was Nola’s last start of the regular season, with his final numbers featuring a 12-11 record, while his ERA will finish at 3.54. The 2017 campaign was a major one for him, as he finally seems to have taken a step forward as the Phillies ace for years to come.--Ricky Delgado - RotoBaller

Beat Writer Chatter

  • @ToddZolecki: Aaron Nola averaged 9.86 K/9 this season, third-best mark in Phillies history. Only Schilling in 1997 (11.29) and 1998 (10.05) was better.
  • @MattGelb: It's a remarkable rebound for Nola, who entered 2017 with so much doubt. Just 13 NL pitchers have a sub-4.00 and enough innings to qualify.
  • @MattGelb: That looks to be it for Aaron Nola. He threw 168 innings with a 3.54 ERA this season.
  • @ryanlawrence21: The Phanatic retrieved his keys and Aaron Nola is on mound for final time in 2017. No Harper, Rendon, or Murphy for Nationals.
  • @MarkZuckerman: #Nats #Phillies probables...

  • @MattGelb: The essence of Rhys Hoskins, in one 10-pitch at-bat:
  • @ryanlawrence21: @joekornik eh, that's any pitcher any year. bigger issue is putting other pitchers around Nola.
  • @ryanlawrence21: Nola's ultra-quality start (7 IP, 2 ER or fewer) was his 12th of season. Same number as Greinke. Only Kershaw (15), Scherzer (14) have more.
  • @MattGelb: Aaron Nola, against the Dodgers:
    7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 8 K

He has a 3.56 ERA in 162 IP.
  • @ryanlawrence21: They just played Aaron Nola's walk-up music for Freddy Galvis. 🤔
  • @ryanlawrence21: @Eric_Chase Cant see fulmer available anyway. That team is rebuilding now, he's their Nola
