Craig Rondinone's dynasty wide receivers to target in fantasy football. His 2026 rebound candidates, including Ladd McConkey, Matthew Golden, and more.
The wide receiver position has become almost as important in fantasy football as the running back position since NFL teams throw more than ever these days.
Stockpiling a potpourri of premium pass-catchers on your fantasy roster in your dynasty league is a superb strategy to ensure your squad will be a contender this year and for years to come. While having Justin Jefferson or Puka Nacua at the top of your roster is awesome, you need to round out your receiving corps with young guys with high upside and lower price tags.
So, which wideouts should you draft in your dynasty leagues this upcoming season? Here are five receivers coming off down years who are ready to bounce back in 2026.

Five Fantasy Football WRs Ready to Bounce Back in 2026
Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert’s nifty slot receiver slumped slightly in his second season. Ladd McConkey burst onto the fantasy football scene by racking up 82 receptions for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns in his rookie campaign.
But the 66-catch, 789-yard, six-touchdown line he posted in 2025 left many fantasy footballers wanting more -- as if they just finished eating a steak they wished was six ounces bigger.
The third season could be the charm for McConkey. Offensive guru Mike McDaniel failed as a head coach with the Miami Dolphins, but there is no question that he can construct an offense and elevate the stats and fantasy values of his playmakers.
Tyreek Hill only had one 1,400-yard year in six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He had back-to-back 1,700-yard seasons with Miami under McDaniel.
Last year’s Chargers offense was built too much on spreading the ball around. McDaniel will get McConkey back on track to be a perennial 1,100-yard wide receiver in no time, as long as he stays as Chargers offensive coordinator for a couple of years.
A Herbert-to-McConkey connection should be fantasy gold for years to come, so acquire McConkey now after his off-year before his value bounces back up this season.

Brian Thomas Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars
After setting secondaries on fire during a rookie season when he torched cornerbacks for 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns, Brian Thomas Jr. suffered through the dreaded sophomore slump in 2025.
His pedestrian 48-catch, 707-yard, two-touchdown line paled in comparison to what he did in his first NFL season and made fantasy managers regret using high draft picks on him.
So, which Thomas are fantasy managers going to get in 2026? The Year 1 wunderkind who was a top-10 fantasy performer at his position, or the Year 2 fantasy fiasco who dropped plenty of passes and was perpetually banged-up? I think it will be the former. Thomas has too great a skill set to have two stinker seasons in a row.
It sounds as if two-way player Travis Hunter will be concentrating more on defense in 2026, so he should not stunt Thomas’ target total. While WR2 Jakobi Meyers and WR3 Parker Washington were 800-yard receivers last season, Thomas is the most talented receiver on the roster. If he can get his body and his hands right, he will be a 1,000-yard, 10-TD fantasy force once again.
Pounce on him during your draft like Ray Lewis used to pounce on running backs.
Matthew Golden, Green Bay Packers
Matthew Golden’s rookie season was less than ideal. He was only targeted 44 times as he spent more time on the Gatorade line than on the line of scrimmage. While Golden provided nothing for fantasy managers in standard leagues, he can still provide bang for the buck in dynasty leagues for those who drafted him last year and held onto him this year.
Golden has less competition for targets this season. Romeo Doubs took a multimillion-dollar deal to join the New England Patriots. Dontayvion Wicks was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. Speedster Christian Watson is perpetually injured, and multi-skilled Jayden Reed and superb tight end Tucker Kraft are coming off injury-marred seasons themselves.
Now is the time for Golden to step up and live up to his last name so much that the KPop Demon Hunters dedicate their chart-topping smash of the same name in his honor.
It would be nice if Green Bay added a veteran to solidify its young receiving corps, but it does not appear to be happening anytime soon. Golden ran the 40-yard dash in 4.29 seconds and plays bigger than his sub-6-foot frame.
All he needs is experience and opportunity. It looks like 2026 will afford Golden both, and I would not be shocked to see his second season be his breakout season. He really will not be bouncing back. More like finally achieving the stardom that Green Bay and others believe he is capable of.
Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts
Josh Downs is coming off an underwhelming year after piling up 140 receptions for 1,574 yards between 2023 and 2024. The undersized slot receiver put up career lows across the board with only 58 catches for 566 yards for a 9.8 YPC on 88 targets.
While greyhound Alec Pierce parlayed a 1,000-yard year into a big deal in free agency, Downs had 400 fewer receiving yards despite being targeted four more times.
Former top target Michael Pittman Jr. was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers before the NFL Draft. That means Downs is the clear WR2 behind Pierce. Other than talented tight end Tyler Warren, there is nobody else on the roster who should get more targets than Downs.
An increased target rate and role in the passing attack will elevate Downs’ fantasy value as long as he takes advantage of his increased opportunities.

I am down for drafting Downs in fantasy leagues this year. While Indianapolis employs a run-first offense that centers around battering-ram-with-feet Jonathan Taylor, it has had success with Downs running short routes that complement its ball-control game plan.
I believe Downs will be in the 850-900 yard range for receiving yards and could finish with a career-high six to seven touchdowns.
Ricky Pearsall, San Francisco 49ers
I know Ricky Pearsall is known more for the horrific shooting incident he was a part of than for what he has done on the football field in the NFL.
I know he has only suited up for 20 games over his first two seasons. I know he did not score a touchdown last year. And I know there is something mysterious going on in San Francisco, where all of the players get injured more often than any team in the league. I know all that.
Yet, I consider Pearsall an intriguing fantasy find because his fantasy value has nowhere to go but up. He should not be drafted in fantasy leagues if you look at his stats on their own. But he is a former first-round pick who had to battle back from being shot a week before his rookie season, and then contend with a knee injury that kept him off the field for eight games last season.
I think Pearsall will bounce back from being a fantasy zero and turn into a fantasy hero this year. Pearsall was projected to be an above-average slot receiver coming out of college. All he needs is the chance to be out there for 14-17 games.
The rest of the pass-catchers on the roster are past their prime (Mike Evans, Christian Kirk). There's an injury-prone tight end who wants to be a WWE wrestler (George Kittle), and an unproven second-round pick (De'Zhaun Stribling). Jauan Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk (who should be released soon) are no longer his competition.
Look for Pearsall to have his time to shine and become a solid fantasy contributor in dynasty leagues for years to come.
