Tutu Atwell 2021 Player Outlook: Speedy Receiver Could Become Field Stretcher for Rams
4 years agoThe Rams selected Tutu Atwell in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. At just 165 pounds he will have size concerns at the NFL level, but he has blazing speed and can be both a downfield threat and operate out of the slot. With Matthew Stafford at the helm for the Rams, you can expect more downfield throws than we have seen in the past. The Rams clearly have been prioritizing downfield weapons, as they drafted Atwell and signed DeSean Jackson to go with Van Jefferson. The three will compete for snaps and targets behind entrenched starting receivers Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. Atwell does not come with much of a floor, but if he can earn the playing time, he could be a nice piece down the stretch. Although I will warn, he profiles as a boom-or-bust option in year one, best left for best balls.
