Mike Marteny's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the Saturday (9/27/25) evening slate in Week 5. His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.
We are getting spoiled with these loaded primetime slates this season. I love it! Our seven games tonight feature a couple of massive matchups, including Oregon in Happy Valley for the Whiteout. Alabama and Georgia are also on here. Arizona is in Ames for another sneaky-good game.
Kentucky heads to South Carolina. We have Washington State in Fort Collins in what will be a conference matchup next year. Memphis takes on FAU with plenty of DFS options in tow, and Virginia Tech heads to Raleigh to take on the Pack.
In this article, I will provide you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the evening DraftKings slate on 9/27/25, starting at 7 pm Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers, aiming to highlight one option at each end of the salary scale, from the highest to the lowest. DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks
Brendon Lewis, Memphis ($9K)
Memphis is 4-0 and has a P4 win on its resume now. It feels more and more like the G5 team in the CFP will be from the American.

FAU was chewed up on the ground by Florida International in the Shula Bowl before the bye. Lewis is more dangerous with his legs (293 yards, four TD), but he also has between 196 and 213 passing yards in every game.
The Memphis offense utilizes several designed quarterback runs to maximize Lewis's effectiveness in this offense. It's almost exactly what he ran at Nevada. Lewis won't wow us with his passing stats, but another 100-yard rushing performance isn't out of the question.
Caden Veltkamp, Florida Atlantic ($7.4K)
Veltkamp came in from Western Kentucky, so he knows how to throw the ball. He has 652 passing yards with seven touchdowns in the last two games. The three interceptions against FIU in the Shula Bowl are somewhat concerning, but he was also more involved in the run game in that game.
The Owls are going to have to throw to win, and they have a quarterback who isn't shy about throwing it around. He has already thrown the ball 138 times in just three games.
Jackson Brousseau, Colorado State ($6.6K)

Brousseau will make his first collegiate start against Washington State this week after he brought Colorado State back against UTSA. The offense got nothing going with Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi in there, so the staff is going to see what Brousseau can do. He completed 10 of 12 passes for 78 yards and a touchdown last week.
I would guess that Brousseau will get at least one half to see what he can do. If he's struggling come halftime, we could see Fowler-Nicolosi start the second half. This play isn't without risk, but there's a high reward against the struggling Washington State defense.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs
Hollywood Smothers, North Carolina State ($9.2K)
Hollywood Smothers in 4 games:
- 503 rushing yards (1st ACC/3rd in P4)
- 303 yards after contact (1st/3rd)
- 24 missed tackles forced (1st/5th)

The usage for Smothers is as high as any player in the country. He has at least 17 carries and at least two receptions in every game. He has 586 all-purpose yards with four touchdowns on the season. No matter what scheme Virginia Tech comes up with to try and stop him, the Pack is going to get Smothers the ball.
Sutton Smith, Memphis ($7.1K)
Even with the return of Greg Desrosiers Jr., Smith was the lead back for Memphis against Arkansas. Smith only got around 60% of the carries, but he was far more productive than Desrosiers. There will be plenty of carries to go around against an FAU team that was ravaged on the ground before their bye.
Seth McGowan, Kentucky ($5.7K)
The Oklahoma transfer has turned out to be a workhorse in the Kentucky backfield. McGowan has 275 yards in three games with six rushing touchdowns. Kentucky's passing game continues to struggle, so expect them to rely heavily on McGowan and Dante Dowdell in this game as well.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers
Ryan Williams, Alabama ($8K)
Not exaggerating, Ryan Williams’ catch against Georgia last year is the best play I’ve ever seen live.
Never seen anyone catch a sideline ball and pull off that ballerina move.
Then he housed is for a 75 yard TD. Unreal.

Williams burst on the scene last year against Georgia, culminating with that play. Williams finished the game with six receptions for 177 yards and a touchdown. It was the best game of his freshman season. Alabama is going to need that Ryan Williams to have a shot at victory between the hedges.
Williams put up a similar stat line against Wisconsin in his return from a concussion before the bye week. He is clearly Ty Simpson's favorite target when healthy.
Easton Messer, Florida Atlantic ($6.8K)
Messer followed his quarterback to Boca, and the two have picked up where they left off. Well, without the touchdowns. Messer already has 25 receptions in three games for 213 yards, but he has only scored once. Come for the free PPR points. Stay for when Messer finally goes off. It could be here.
Dakorien Moore, Oregon ($5.8K)
Much has been made of Penn State's weak non-conference schedule, but honestly, Oregon's hasn't been much better. Who is going to be the breakout player in the most important game of the season? Moore is a great candidate because he is always a threat with the ball in his hands.
Oregon has even given him a few carries out of the backfield to give other teams something else to look at on film. Moore could be in for a huge game when Oregon finally gets everything the freshman has to offer.
Terrell Anderson, North Carolina State ($4.7K)
The Pack have been looking for a suitable replacement for KC Concepcion since the start of the season. I think they found him. Anderson exploded for 166 yards on six receptions against Duke, taking two of those in for touchdowns. Anderson has at least three receptions in every game, but I think he'll see more looks from CJ Bailey after that performance.
Vandrevius Jacobs, South Carolina ($3.8K)
Opposing defenses have rolled coverage to Nyck Harbor and dared someone else to beat them. Jacobs stepped up last week with seven receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown. It's his third touchdown on the season. Jacobs is underpriced, even in a tough matchup.

- Trebor Pena, Penn State ($5.4K)
- Nyck Harbor, South Carolina ($4.7K)
- Javin Whatley, Arizona ($4.4K)
- Rocky Beers, Colorado State ($4K - if Jaxxon Warren is out)
DraftKings CFB Stacks
Memphis vs. Florida Atlantic
The most common build is going to be Lewis with Smith and/or Desrosiers. I doubt many reach for Braham because of the massive price increase and the likelihood that Memphis will lean heavily on the ground game. I would run all four, then run it back with Veltkamp/Messer.
Colorado State vs. Washington State
It may be hard to stack the Rams after last week, but look what North Texas and Washington did to this defense. The Colorado State offense isn't that polished, but a lot of good things happened once the Rams made the switch to Brousseau.
You would have to stack Brousseau with Beers since that was the hookup preferred by Brousseau. I also like Armani Winfield, with both Jordan Ross and Jaxxon Warren carrying questionable tags. If Warren is in, you'll have to switch to him from Beers. This offense can't sustain two tight ends.
The backfield has been a true split between Jalen Dupree and Lloyd Avant. I like both of them in this situation, breaking in a new quarterback. I'm going to have one stack of Brousseau/Dupree/Avant/Winfield and whoever starts at TE.

- Arizona (GPP only)
- Oregon (GPP only)
