Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (3/24) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the July 25th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on July 24th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Blue ain’t your color, KC. Shane Bieber seems to think it is. 14K, 6IP. DYNOMITE!
  • I’m amused by the simplicity of this game, says Yoenis Cespedes homers after a two-year respite.
  • It’s like deja vu. Jacob deGrom with 8K, 5IP, 0 run support. Back issues? HA!
  • Hey Rizzo, I heard you’re knocked up. Yep, knocked up and out = Tater! Anthony Rizzo' back barks though.
  • Walk one…& Edwin Diaz locks down the save. Whew. Never doubted you for a second (damn, my bandana is soaked)
  • The MOOSE is loose! Mike Moustakas bulled a 421ft moonshot to start 2020.
  • LAA, TB, MIN didn’t want him. C.J. Cron hits moonshots (1).
  • Joey Votto feeling frisky. The power remains within.
  • Sonny Gray. How do you sleep at night? 6IP, 1ER, 9K vs the precious Tigers.
  • Aledmys Diaz vs. Kyle Tucker. How’s that working out?
  • Willy Adames w/107.4 mph exit velocity. I'm intrigued.
  • Oh Sandy! Alcantara with 7K, 1ER in 6IP vs. PHI. He gets BAL next. Make me swoon.
  • Riddle me this…Kyle Kendricks throws a three-hit shutout…and the only person that has him figured out is Orlando Arcia. Of all people, Arcia?!
  • New place, same old power. Jesus Aguilar (1).
  • Psst. Is the speed back? Whit Merrifield’s quick feet snags one.
  • It was Cavan Biggio w/ incomparable power. 99mph exit velo, 355ft monster….squeaker. It counts.
  • Tsutsugo is not a Phil Collins song. Just say the word. Tsut-Tsut-Tsutsugo? No, Dinger!
  • MY MAN!!! Jose Peraza - 4-for-5 from the ninth spot. 6% owned. Multi-position eligibility. A slice of BoSox can’t be too bad.
  • Nathan Eovaldi gives you the cheap win.
  • New Globe Life Field is a pitcher’s park, huh?
  • Trevor Story still running.
  • If White Sox were on your list to stream against…reevaluate.
  • Let more Jake out of the Cave. Byron Buxton, take all the time to recover.
  • Max Kepler and Max Muncy both double your enjoyment. Two homers apiece and the crowd goes wi…..pfff.
  • "But he only has two pitches." Ok, you stick with that. Chris Paddack. 6IP, 4K, 81 pitches. Smooth operator.
  • Jorge Polanco batting third is dreamy. This love won’t stop.
  • Miguel Sano provides consistency. Three strikeouts.
  • Yoan Moncada dedicates life to excellence. Silent stadiums & loud cracks of the bat. (1HR)
  • He wasn’t lying. Kwang-Hyun Kim gets first save.
  • Tommy Edman, get the lead out. We need all the caught-free steals we can get.
  • Eric Hosmer w/six RBI. **Rubs eyes** Yep, 'tis true.
  • Short season will have less steals, some said. Tommy Pham w/two on day one.
  • "Mr. Kyle Lewis, Will you ever recover from knee surgery?” Asked & 438-foot answer received.
  • Ian Happ is still here, in case you’re curious. Presence felt.
  • Morton, Berrios, & Giolito. These are my ratios. Be very careful with them.
    • Morton vs TOR: 4IP, 6ER, 4K. ATL next. Eesh.
    • Giolito vs MIN; 3.2IP, 7ER, 3K. CLE next. Meh.
    • Berrios vs CWS: 4IP, 5ER, 1K. Ugh. STL next
  • I say Butt Fumble. You know what I’m talking about. I say Butt Tumble, now you’ll know Chris Taylor & Panda.
  • Two games, two starts. Yes, I'm feeling a little Kike Hernandez. 34% owned.
  • Ross Stripling is gracious & thankful for start vs. SF. 7IP, 1ER, 7K-appreciative.
  • Another double for Corey Seager. Get your dynasty shares.
  • It’s a lose-lose. Hansel Robles takes the L & Liam Hendriks blows save.
  • Matt Olson with takeout Grand Slam. Deliciousness!
  • It's the weekend. You just want to relax, soak up some sun, and have zero responsibilities. If you can, get as much of that done as possible.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
