Joe Mixon 2020 Outlook: Holdout On The Horizon?
5 years agoCincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon will enter the 2020 season with a potential holdout looming. While the release of quarterback Andy Dalton will open up the funds needed to get a possible deal done, both the organization and the fourth-year back are prepared to engage in a stalemate if both sides aren't able to reach an agreement. The hopes for efficiency are higher than ever for the 23-year-old and the franchise after the team drafted quarterback Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, a move that will potentially form a lethal offensive duo for years to come. Despite playing in two more games in 2019 (16), Mixon finished with 1,137 yards, 31 less than in 2018. He also scored only five touchdowns last season, three less than he did during his sophomore campaign, and did not score on the ground until Week 11 against the Raiders. Mixon did, however, score three times as a receiver, an improvement, and with a seemingly enhanced offensive line along with a favorable schedule, the former Sooner could be in store for his best year to date.
