A.J. Green 2020 Outlook: End Of An Era?
5 years agoCincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green missed the entire 2019 season after injuring his foot during training camp. His status with the organization was a big question mark as constant rumors of his departure ran wild throughout the season. However, the club put those rumors to rest after the team placed the franchise tag on him, a move that suggested he will likely remain a Bengal, at least for this season. With the release of nine-year signal-caller Andy Dalton, the veteran wideout will now be catching passes from Joe Burrow, who was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. It may take some time for Green to develop the type of rapport with Burrow that he enjoyed over many seasons with Dalton, but the ceiling still remains as high as ever. There will be plenty of mouths to feed on the offensive end, but Burrow will likely need to depend on the consistency and experience of the 31-year-old, a luxury afforded to him that not many newer quarterbacks have had over the years. One thing is for sure, Green will have extra incentive to produce if he hopes to earn big money moving ahead, regardless of if that cash comes from Mike Brown or elsewhere.
