FanDuel MLB Lineup Picks (4/25/21): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

JorgePucks highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 4/25/21, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

As is customary on Sundays, we have a very large slate to dissect with lots of batting and pitching options for us to consider. We have some top arms like Woodruff, Castillo, Bundy, and Flaherty and some stacking options like the Braves, Twins, A's, Indians, and the Red Sox.

I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 4/25/2021. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate. You can also check out today's DraftKings MLB DFS lineup picks, and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. Let's get to it!

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:

Brandon Woodruff- MIL vs. CHC ($9,300)

Woodruff is having a fantastic start to his 20201 campaign as he has started four games and is 1-0 with a 1.96 ERA and 26 strikeouts. What's even more impressive is that Woodruff has had two starts against the Cubs and has faced 45 batters. Amongst those 45 batters faced, he has only allowed four total hits while managing to accrue 14 strikeouts in just 13 total innings pitched. He is sporting a 29.9% K strikeout rate on the season and is facing a Cubs team that is only producing a .205 team batting average and 140 strikeouts (seventh-highest rate) against right-handed pitchers. Woodruff has produced 37 and 49 FanDuel points in his two starts against the Cubs so he should be leaned on in all formats.

Alternate Play(s)

Taijuan Walker - NYM vs. WSH ($7,700)

With Juan Soto being out, Taijuan Walker could be a cheaper pitcher option to consider on this slate. Walker has started three games this season and has totaled 19 strikeouts while allowing only five earned runs. The Nationals rank 16th in the league against right-handed pitching as they're averaging .223 but they have only struck out 102 times against this handedness which is tied for the fourth-lowest rate. Opponents are batting .188 against Walker this season and he has not allowed a home run. Washington has hit only eight home runs against right-handed pitchers which is the second-lowest total against that-handedness so far this season. Walker has only gone six innings once in his first three starts so as long as he gets a longer leash, he is a viable option in all formats.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Salvador Perez - C/1B, KC vs. DET ($3,300)

Perez has the tendency to get forgotten, especially over on FanDuel where most people will flock to rostering a 1B over a catcher. While Perez is only currently sporting a .260 batting average on the season, he is hitting .385 against right-handed pitchers and all five of his home runs have come from righties. Another thing to take note of is that Perez has hit Michael Fulmer well in his career as he has six hits in 19 at-bats (.316 BA) with three home runs.

Mike Brosseau - 2B/3B, TBR vs. TOR ($2,900)

Mike Brosseau is someone who has hit lefties pretty well throughout his young career and if he draws a good spot in the batting order for Tampa Bay, he should be considered. In his career against left-handed pitchers, Brosseau has a batting average of .301 with nine home runs in 144 plate appearances. He has only faced Ryu four times in his career and has one hit so there is not a large sample size when it comes to BVP. When looking at the matchup itself, Ryu throws his fastball or change up 55% of the time to righties and Brosseau has a .475 wOBA against his type of change up while also having a 1.289 wOBA against his type of fastball.

Matt Chapman - 3B, OAK vs. BAL ($3,000)

Chapman has gotten off to a slower start but this could be a matchup that could really get him going at the plate. Yes, John Means has been pitching very well to start the season and has been a bright spot for this Baltimore team, but Chapman profiles very well against the two main pitches that Means throws to right-handed batters. He tends to throw his fastball or changeup 86% of the time in which Chapman sports a .357 wOBA and .214 ISO against his fastball and a .402 wOBA and a .343 ISO against his changeup. Chapman has fared better against lefties this season as he is batting .250 while totaling two home runs.

Xander Bogaerts, SS, BOS vs. SEA ($3,400)

While this slate features plenty of great options at the shortstop position, it is hard to pass up on Bogaerts. He is batting .372 on the season with three home runs and 11 RBIs and gets a favorable matchup against Nick Margevicius. Bogaerts is batting .393 against left-handed pitchers this season and has two homers off of this type of handedness. Margevicius struggles against right-handed batters as rights are averaging .273 against him while also scoring eight runs on the season.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

J.D. Martinez - OF, BOS vs. SEA ($4,300)

The Red Sox seems to be a very stackable team against Mergevicius and it is hard to imagine stacking the Red Sox without including J.D. Martinez. Martinez is sporting a .346 ISO and a .372 wOBA against left-handed pitchers and is only sporting a 7.7% strikeout rate against that handedness. Margevicius throws four pitches and his fastball is thrown more than half the time to right-handed batters (54.49%). Martinez profiles well against left-handed fastballs as he has a .375 ISO and a .518 wOBA against this pith since 2016.

Whit Merrifield - 2B/OF, KC vs. DET ($3,500)

The wind looks to be blowing out to the outfield and with the success that the Royals have had against Fulmer, it makes it easy to consider Whit Merrifield for all types of formats. Merrifield is 10 for 23 against Fulmer in his career with two home runs. Fulmer throws three primary pitches to right-handed batters with his fastball and slider being thrown roughly 73% of the time (sinker is thrown the other 27% of the time). Merrifield profiles well against both his fastball and sinker as he carries a wOBA of .365 against his sinker and a 571 wOBA against his fastball.

Eddie Rosario - OF, CLE vs. NYY ($2,500)

The pricing is too good to be true for Rosario and when he is under the 3k mark, he is just too good to pass up in any format. Taillon has been very good against right-handed batters so far this season as he has held them to just a .226 batting average and a .419 slugging percentage but has gotten roughed up by left-handed batters as they are hitting .364 off of him and are sporting a .682 slugging percentage with two home runs. Rosario has done much better against right-handed pitchers as he has a .263 batting average and has swiped four bags against this handedness.
